Schefter just tweeted that it's a 6 year extension. Thank god we got Cush locked up! He is a very important part of our defense as it showed last season. Now hopefully we get JJ Watt an extension next!

I stop following him though during the regular season games... the guy is like a fan with the way he over-reacts to every negative thing that happens to the Texans during the game... can't believe he's supposed to be a professional when i read those tweets.

This is the contract I wanted to sign him to:
Quote:
Extend ILB Brian Cushing (6 years, $67M, $29M guaranteed, $18M SB) (would sign now, but not kick in until 2014 season)
- 2014: $5M base + $3M SB = $8M cap hit (fully guaranteed)
- 2015: $6M base + $3M SB = $9M cap hit (fully guaranteed)
- 2016: $7M base + $3M SB = $10M cap hit
- 2017: $9M base + $3M SB = $12M cap hit
- 2018: $10M base + $3M SB = $13M cap hit
- 2019: $12M base +$3M SB = $15M cap hit

So as far as I am concerned, we got a steal (or rather Rick did).

Brian Cushing's extension worth $52.5 million in new money. Total deal worth $55.643 million.Signing bonus $9M, averages $8.75M per year

McNair is the man. Handing out bonuses ($5.5 to Andre, $9 to Cushing) like a boss.

He is very professional with his columns and other work, I think he just sees his twitter account as a more personal thing. He tweets a lot about Baylor (his alma matter), friendships, and other personal happenings.
