Danny Watkins to the Dolphins a done-deal. A one-year contract, I'm told.

Is he supposed to start?

Phil Taylor embarrassed him last time they played.

Such a bad pick from the start. Good for the Eagles to recognize their mistake relatively early and not hold onto him just because he was a 1st round pick.

I wouldn't get my hopes up. He's almost certainly going to be a backup, at least for the time being.

Still will never understand that pick. He wasn't anything special in college, even at an older age. What made the Eagles think he'd be special in the NFL?

A "safe" pick at a huge area of need with a lockout. Cam Jordan and Wilkerson would've been better picks, but not very good fits for the wide 9.

Which is BS, he was obviously a late 3rd round pick to 4th round pick at best, he was ok at the Senior Bowl but was clearly outmatched by more physical, meanier, faster players.

This was a "Andy" pick. Andy fell in love with the kids personality, background story, like typical Andy. and this draft is a big reason why Andy is not here anymore.

The rumor is the Patriots and the Hoodie got Andy and company to bite down hard on Watkins thinking that the Patriots and some other teams were going to aggressively pursuit Watkins towards the end of the 1st round when in reality they didnt want us to take any of the corners or defensive ends off the board and no one at the back end of the 1st round had Watkins any higher then a 3rd round grade.

RG is the Dolphins' least settled position, so I'll take a basically free guard who has started and not completely imploded.

If that's their plan then he won't help in the least. That was the mistake the Eagles made moving him from LT straight to RG in the NFL. Had Mathis not come out of nowhere he would of played LG with the Herremans move to RT two years ago. It's a lot easier to move one spot over to the LG then going to RG. Totally different technique, footwork etc. I have no idea who is on your roster but Watkins should be placed on the left side as a backup if any.

RG John Jerry is the worst start on our OL and he's serviceable. Watkins will be competing for a backup job and we're severely lacking depth on the OL.

If he turns it around and pushes for playing time, great, but having a backup guard who has starting experience is better than what we had before (Josh Samuda played horribly this preseason).
