Good to have a veteran QB on the roster. Geno Smith is a rookie. Matt Simms has never been on an NFL roster before. Mark Sanchez plays like a rookie.
Without trying to defend Sanchez, I don't understand how you're pleased to have Brady Quinn on the roster while saying that Sanchez plays like a rookie. Again, not trying to defend Sanchez, but what do Quinn's career numbers actually say? 53.8% completion percentage, 12:17 TD:INT ratio, career record of 4-16 as a started. How is that a veteran presence on the roster?

Hence why id want Vince Young Over him 57.9% completion Percentage a 9:10 TD INT ratio and a better career record I believe ...

+ he contributed a couple TDs a year running + always an option. I do think this is a sign Sanchez is out more then Day to Day

They won't sign VY because he's too much of a head case. If they truly wanted a veteran presence, they should have signed a guy like leftwich or charlie batch. Maybe even david carr. Not saying Carr's a winner by any means, but he's been in the league for a while and backed up Eli at least. The guy understands the game.

And whether we agree with the Jets signing Quinn or not, let's hope the reason is because they plan on putting Sanchez on either the IR or cutting him and having Quinn more than likely being the backup with Simms being our number 3 (I don't see them having Simms being the number 2, but who knows).

You know, it's funny. Never in a million years did I ever imagine Tim Tebow would one day be a Jet. On the other hand, I always thought it was just a matter of time before Brady Quinn would be. No jouneyman QB's career is complete until he's done his obligatory tour of duty on the Jet's roster.

This can't bode well for Sanchez, though. If Geno isn't a disaster in the first few games and the FO decides to keep rolling with him, the next logical move would be to try and trade Sanchez, or possibly cut him. I can't imagine him holding a clipboard all season long, furiously charting plays. That would be disracting and divisive.

I'm hoping that this signing is because Mark is out and he will simply be third string behind Geno and Matt.

Imo, if they signed him for any other reason,it would be a real bonehead move. Statistically, he's worst than Mark. I feel that with Geno and Matt we at least have "hope".

Obviously Quinn was signed because Sanchez is going to be out for at least a couple of weeks. It's the best of a bad situation, but Quinn is still pretty much terrible.

I'm surprised people are even remotely happy with this...Brady Quinn is awful. I'd rather see what we have in Matt Simms if Geno goes down. Seriously.

There are better FAs on the market too. Carr, Leftwich...Brady Quinn has never had an ounce of success in the NFL.

I am glad it came out this way. When we traded up for Revis, I thought it was for Quinn. For a guy who ran a pro offense in college, under a great offensive coach, it is so disappointing that Quinn has never succeeded.
I guess Sanchez is more hurt than they are saying.

If Geno look good enough, and Brady look solid at practice, then Sanchez will be gone. I have a hard time seeing Idzik bring in Quinn (who was recommended by his former boss in Seattle & Loved by Coach Lee) , then cutting him for Sanchez weeks later when we all know Sanchez is going to be cut because of his contract any way.

The expectation is that the Jets will re-sign him later on to prevent his contract from been guaranteed.
