The moves continue. Harper was a 4th rounder this past April and didn't make their 53 man roster. I am curious as to who the 49ers cut to make room for him.

Presumably he would have to be an H-Back but if so, it will not be a meaningful movie IMO. Harper seems to be more of an Anquan Boldin-like receiver.

I wonder who the Seahawks replace Harper with on the PS.

Dude looks like a Delanie Walker clone bro. Walker was a WR in college but we converted him to TE. Both had almost identical builds coming out.

He could definitely make the transition and he is raw enough that you could do it. It's very possible that the 49ers could coach up Harper into a quality NFL player and that annoys me Laughing

lol, as long as he continues to drop perfectly placed passes, I have no problem with this. The drops he had this preseason were horrible. He's a project though with solid upside, but I wouldn't call him anything more than PS material at this time.

If he lets a Tarvaris Jackson pass hit him in the chest, then those Kaep fastballs are gonna nail him in the face. Ah Niners would sign him, too funny.

Can't believe I am about to be civil with a Seahawks fan but.....

Yea he seems like he could be Boldin-esque. I mean he also has good size to be TE where they could move him and part ways with Celek if they so wanted. Since drafting AJ Jenkins though the 49ers have acquired only one WR on the current roster that isn't big bodied and that was the guy taken 5 picks after Harper in Patton. The second smallest WR they acquired was Boldin who is 220.

I think it's another example of the 49ers and Seahawks making moves to counter the moves of the other team. Seahawks secondary is big bodied so the 49ers went big bodied at WR. Seahawks got Harvin so the 49ers added to the secondary and replaced Goldson(a hitter with iffy tackling technique) with basically Goldson with slightly more speed and who knows how to wrap up in Eric Reid.

Also to add to the news to make room on the roster for Harper the 49ers have traded OLB Cam Johnson to the Colts for a conditional 7th round pick.

That's assuming he will even see the field during the season. The 49ers will probably not have him dress unless injuries happen and really only Boldin and the rotation of Williams/Moore/Patton will see the field at WR. The 49ers also have Davis and McDonald to throw to in the passing game. I'd be shocked if Jon Baldwin sees a lot of playing time let alone Harper this year.

I really liked the signing. I liked him as a prospect an was mad when they drafted him.

But the trading of cam j for a seventh?!?!?!? Are you kidding. That's a really bad move by us

I said this in the thread on the 49ers forum.

First: He did most of his best pre-season play against backups. If he did it during the season vs starters than it's a different story. As of right now the 49ers get more than they invested in him seeing as the 2014 draft will be stronger than the 2012 draft and the pick acquired is higher than the pick spent to get him.

Second: The 49ers have 4 OLBs still, and there was no way Cam was going to beat out Aldon/Ahmad/Lemonier. And Skuta wasn't in danger of being cut because he is a ST ace. So Cam was likely the first to go anyway and was probably going to be cut before Indianapolis offered a pick for him.
