They also placed Safety Haruki Nakamura on injured reserve.

Surprised we got it done. Great job, Gettleman! Hopefully he pans out for us as well as Edwards did when we signed him last year around the same time.

I'm a lot more comfortable with him than just rolling with Mitchell/Godfrey at safety. This also means no Nakamura as we have placed him on IR with this signing.

Big improvement over Nakamura.

Don't really get why no one wanted him. I would have loved him back in St. Louis. He had a really great year last year for the rams and if he keeps that up with the panthers, panther fans won't be let down

SS was our biggest need on D, and we just got a solid player. Coming off his best year as well. If our CB can step up, our D is nasty.

Pro football focus favorite son. Great pick up by the Panthers.

Pure box safety. No speed or cover skills left at this point in his career. Great blitzer, smart player and will hit although he's prone to missing tackles while trying to make a big hit. Excellent at attacking gaps and knifing into the back-field against the run.

Just way too slow to cover anyone anymore.

Don't worry. Sean Payton would pass the ball in a Tornado.

But would he do it in a Sharknado?

Hopefully he'll be in some sort of rotation with Mike Mitchell (still not great, but potential there) at strong safety.
