You know those aren't mutually exclusive, right? Running to the play occurs when it matters, pile diving happens when it doesn't.
Not in the context they were used.

Julius Peppers was held off the stat sheet by a back up LT.

If people don't think he is declining and that we are going to continue to pay him 14-17 million a season might want to re evaluate.

TBF, I was real high on Anthony Collins, and I believe he was a 2nd round pick, he's just been stuck behind one of the better LTs in the league all this time. And as much as I love Pep, if Melton isn't rolling Pep has a tendency to disappear b/c QBs just step up into the middle.

No, MM said that he wasn't really making an impact. I am saying the same thing b/c he seemed to be the last man to jump on every pile. There were times I saw DBs from the opposite side of the field get into the play before Williams did. If you want to continue this discussion I'll be happy to break down the tape on Thurs and show you just how not good that DJ Williams played.

He is declining.

I hope he can have an impact this season like we have seen in the past.

Collins was a 4th round pick who was a free agent last season and got no action and while he is a good pass blocker he should not be keeping Peppers off the stat sheet.

I think his foot problems may have slowed him down considerably...tough to see a great player decline

Good game. Offense looked good, not great. We moved the ball, Cutler looked good, except for his pick. Liked how he spread the ball around to Bennett, Jeffery, and not focusing on Marshall 90% of the time. O-line was great, no sacks allowed, not a lot of pressure on Cutler.

Defense was iffy. There were times where they picked off from last season, Tillmans 2 ints, Jennings fumble. Only 1 sack, where were Peppers and Melton?

I hope we have a plan to slow down AP next week.

Watching PGL after getting home from the GFs. Good guy Jordan Mills is 315 lbs and if he's more than 10% body fat, I'd be shocked. Dude is not human.

I'm really hoping the dline improves next week against the vikings, but their Oline looks pretty good as well, we got a big test on our hands next week against a hungry team.

Stat I just found on ESPN that I like to see.

Jay Cutler was blitzed on 10 of his pass attempts. Here are the numbers from those plays:

8-10, 94 yards, TD, 4 1st downs

Fact: Jay Cutler won is this game.
I would say the O-line won this game. What I came away with was that our O'line as it is constituted can handle ANY defense. And it will just get better. Jay said the same thing.

Both are right technically - the OL gave Jay the opportunity to do his job, and Jay did his job very well. Everyone is quick to pile on Cutler when it hits the fan but when he leads a 4th quarter comeback today against a playoff team with an excellent defense there has been surprisingly little acknowledgement or appreciation for his job well done.
Jay had an excellent game without mistakes but he knows he would have been running for his life without the line play. This is why I have said I do not worry at all about his play this year also because I have complete confidence in this coaching staff.
