Geno Atkins was scheduled to earn $1.4 million in last year of rookie contract; now will earn $22 million in next six months.

Great job by the Bengals locking up one of their best defensive players.

Yes!!!!!! He is the best at his position, this is really a testiment to how far this team has come. The bengals of old would have never gotten a superstar to sign a long term deal

Well deserved and smart by the Bengals to lock him up.

Good deal for Cincy - I thought it would take more than Ngata got to lock him up, but the lower franchise tag number for DTs obviously worked in their favor.

Played just down the road and we drafted Corey Peters ahead of him Crying or Very sad

Bengals lucked out because he was a 4th round pick. The jump from $1.4m to $22m is tough to turn down. Got Geno and Dunlap locked up, I'm a very happy man.

Now on to AJ Green and Dalton...

Well earned raise and nice to see Mike Brown step up and pay the man. He should be worth every penny. The bengals have done a fantastic job the last few years of bringing in young, very good talent. I really like what I see from them in the future. I just wish it was possible to know if Andy Dalton is really the answer at quarterback.

Brown has actually been pretty good about paying his own. Just doesn't want to spend on FAs. Carson, Chad, Whitworth, Hall, Peko, Willie Anderson, Levi Jones, etc... all got extensions.

Only guys that left were JJoe, Housh and Steinbach. When you look at them though, JJoe and Housh said they got good offers from the Bengals, just wanted to play elsewhere. Steinbach got overpaid plus the Bengals spent the money on both tackles instead...

Is it just me or does that seem like a fantastic deal for IMO the best DT in the league? The Bengals did pretty well on this, Geno still gets paid too.

Maybe he can afford someone to teach him not to walk like a duck anymore.

Great deal for both sides, the Bengals d-line is young and is locked up for years to come [other than Michael Johnson], should be on top of their division for years to come with all that young talent that they have.

He was a rather uninspiring prospect coming out of Georgia. Seemed like your average 3rd round DT. What has he done to separate himself from the usual 3rd round DTs?
