Nice breakdown of three OL plays:

Not sure anyone will get much out of this.. but I wanted to focus on the OL.

The rest to be continued throughout the week... it's just what I do...

(PP = pass play) ... (RP = run play)

1. PP - the left side wasn't pretty, but they did enough to keep the QB clean on this PA rollout. Deep pass catchable to Fasano, but TE needed to get off the ground a little or have another inch or two of arm extension.

2. RP - LT was fine.. LG pulled inside, but didn't get much push and fell quickly... C did well keeping RDT away.. RG did well on angling out LDT.. failed 2nd level block from RT, but inconsequential.. FB did okay on outside block... TE blocked inside, but between nice LB filling, just lots of bodies clogged up.

3. PP - both OTs gave up quick ground from both DEs.. forced back into QB... QB does well to evade and gets throw out to relief valve RB... pass on target, but DROPPED... DB closed quickly and likely would have made the stop anyway. punt.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. PP - all blocking was fine except for LT vs RE. RE crashed inside and Albert couldn't keep him from progressing toward QB. JC teamed with Albert in backfield to give QB just enough time. Short pass on target.

2. PP - blocks were adequate for such a quick strike.. slant pass to JC on target after 3 step drop.

3. PP - very quick pass when QB sees instant separation from Avery outside. Ball had some zip and was accurate, so that Avery could break a tackle and take the extra 2 yds for a TD!

great answering TD drive after the shocking blocked punt for a safety...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. RP - quick slasher up the middle... the C nicely angles away his RDT... RG gets his 2nd level ILB... great job pulling over to get LE by the LG... the RT slips past the LE but fails to get the 2nd level tackling DB filling in... this play would have gone for MUCH more had RT done his job.

2. RP - poor and failed cut block attempt by FB on OLB... RG pulls right but lazy fail block on that same OLB... underwhelming LE block from pulling LG after RT released the LE to go after a 2nd level block.

3. PP - very quick, 3 step drop and pass on target to a Avery slant. converted 3rd. Blocks were fine.

4. PP - very strange play. looks like the clumsy LG trips and falls forward and nearly tackles Charles.. who is trying to get out on a screen dump-off. Really messed up everything on this one.

5. PP - blocking was acceptable... the RT did get beaten inside by LE, but the RG was free in ZB to assist him, good pick-up by RG.. Looks like Alex had a better target that he could have gone to.. one that was a little deeper. (Avery)

6. PP - blocks were solid enough... ball on target to Avery crossing the middle... excellent diving knockaway from the CB on Avery's back. punt.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

great field position after Flowers INT and return...

1. RP - nice sustained block from LG vs RDT... C gets a key 2nd level block on ILB after initial block of LDT... FB gets key block on OLB... RG twists LDT away.. very nice run for 18 yds..

2. PP - all blocks really held up well, other than Albert vs RE, but the LG helped him just enough.. Alex has time to go to his 3rd read and the pass was thrown in the one spot only Hemmingway could get it... TD!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. PP - solid blocks.. LG quickly lost inside, but the RDT slipped down and Allen kept him down. Short pass... one of those plays where I'd like to see the deep routes, but can not.

2. RP - the C struggled to get any movement on the RDT.. the LT should have done a better job of washing away the RE.

END of 1st

(PP = pass play) ... (RP = run play)

1. RP - was a nice pitch-out call to JC. decent gain, but would have been bigger had the RE bit in a little more.

2. PP - blocks were fine, as it was a quick hitter to JC in the flat. I was disappointed in JC on the miss. I think he was a bit lazy in not keeping his feet moving forward and forcing himself to fully extend out for the pass. Ball went off his hands, and he could have set up better for it. They will work that out.

3. PP - nice PA rollout... QB decides to keep it and pick up 13 on the ground and go out of bounds. Nothing wrong with that.

3rd and 4... false start flag on RG.. 3rd and 9

Delay of game makes it 3rd and 14... me thinks something sneaky is going on with the playclock in Jax.

4. PP - quick pass pro breakdown between RT and LE... RT getting illegally shoved in the head (no call) as he is driven back to QB... QB rolls right and throws sideline... either tipped by a DB in between or just an inaccurate throw on the move. punt.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. RP - LT angled away the RE... nice hole created by moving out the RDT with RG and C... FB cleared away the OLB... nice quick cut for JC.

2. PP - pretty ugly pass pro by the RG, who slid out to block the LE, but lost inside edge.. RT blocked inside well on LDT. QB got it out quick and accurate to McC on a seam route for 21 yds.

3. RP - the LG pulled out to meet the incoming Lb and clogged up JC, who ran into them... I don't think anyone blocked their assignment well there... just a mess.

4. PP - nice OLB blitz pick-up by the FB to give the play a chance... RT took a jolt backwards but anchored right after... quick pass to beat the blitz to JC in the flat for 4 yds.

3rd and 5

5. PP - turned into RP, as QB evades near sack and runs successfully for the first... Right side of the line collapsed quickly. Looks like Fisher is the main culprit here.

6. RP - nice job of C to angle off the LDT... great job LT to get 2nd level ILB... RG pulls left and falls down, lol.... LG wasn't pretty, but did enough to keep the attention of the RDT.. nice gain of 9 yds for RB

7. RP - minimal surge on the right side, but JC followed his FB and got the needed yds for the 1st by spinning and churning legs forward as tackled.

8. RP - powerful blocks by 76, 79, and a cutblock from Sherman were key on this JC TD run.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. PP - blocks were okay, other than the RT losing lots of ground to an in-crashing, spinning LE. Wouldn't have been a big issue, but it was in the area of the designed RB screen pass. Ball on target, but DROPPED by JC. SLB would probably have made the tackle anyway... but maybe JC cuts it inside with his crazy quickness.

2. PP - OL loses a little ground, but pretty solid overall.. quick pass on target to FB in the flat for 7 yds.

3. PP - designed rollout pass, and all was solidly executed... pass on target to Bowe to convert the 3rd.

nice conversion to keep clock burning towards the 2 minute warning

4. RP - Albert cuts down the 3-4 RE, but this RE has time to get up and help make tackle as a free ILB closes in on RB. Charles would likely have gained good yds had he decided to cut it outside rather than in. loss of 1

5. PP - PA fake.. good pass pro.. QB looks hesitant in deciding on Fasano... throws it anyway.. ball was a few feet wide and a little high... bad location and really should have been picked off. Alex expresses anger.. at himself? at Fasano's route?

3rd and 11.. final TO burned

6. PP - decent pass pro and pocket... throw on target, but short of sticks to Bowe. Chiefs were not taking another risk on this side of the field. punt.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

End of 2nd

(PP = pass play) ... (RP = run play)

1. RP - nice job LG clearing out the RDT.. the C gets enough of the ILB, but needs watch out for block behind back when said LB slipped past him.. LT manhandled his RE away... very effective lead blocking from FB on OLB.

2. RP - easy effective job from RG to keep LDT away.. RT did well on the playside OLB, but wish he'd have sustained rather than release for another... excellent and needed lead block by FB on LE.

3. PP - pocket closed but they held up enough... quick pass on target to McC on a curl for 6 yds.

4. RP - nice audible from QB.. C missed his NT (3-4) block, but it was inconsequential... LG got initial block on RE but quickly released upfield.. LT let that RE go so he could get upfield, and fortunately the RE missed JC due to a nice cut.. LT should have been able to pancake the OLB, but didn't.. LG should have locked onto the ILB, but didn't, so he made tackle.

3rd and 1

5. RP - pitch-out to JC... the FB got his block on his LB.. LT cutblock on the DL.. Fasano stood another DL up.. nice LG pull block smashed a DB at the los down... tremendous closing and hit by other ILB running free. loss of 1.. punt
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. PP - blocks are fine for this quick pass to FB to beat the blitz... 3 yds

2. PP - blocks are solid and QB rewards that with a nice throw to Bowe on an in route. around 15 yd gain

3. PP - lack of pressure on 3 man rush.. throw was a little off target at the sideline to Bowe... who dove and nearly had it. Replay shows the pass was really not off by much... just a tough catch that Bowe probably makes 8 x out of 10.

3 straight passes at this point seems a bit silly to me...

4. RP - C does enough to keep the NT away... good LG pull clears out an incoming ILB.. LT rolls under the RE to take him down... TE keeps the OLB well away... RT can't get his body in between the LE scraping across in pursuit. RB Davis leaps up, but probably should have kept his feet and cut left and away from pursuing LE. gain of 4

3rd and 6

5. PP - LT chooses poorly on which defender to block.. Albert takes the far outside DB and therefore allow pressure through the B gap. QB rolls right and delivers a catchable pass to Fasano... DROPPED... but likely would have been tackled before getting the first. punt.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. PP - protection was fine.. quick throw.. both safeties deep, so QB get ball to McC on a quick curl from the slot. Excellent timing of the extra DB to hit McC as ball arrives to break it up.

2. PP - pass pro fine.. QB pumps then zips a sideline pass to Bowe, but coverage was tight and the pass just knocked away.

KC should be RUNNING clock...

3. blocks were fine to allow QB time to set up RB screen... ball is there, RB turns up field... all 3 interior OL do a decent job on upfield blocks, but too many Jags converge. 6 yd gain and punt.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. PP - excellent pass pro, and QB rewards them by throwing a strike to McC for 17 yds.

2. PP - more good pass pro.. QB didn't like his options on the left, so he comes back to the middle and hits the relief valve RB curl for 5 yds.

3. RB - looked promising, but no one accounted for the incoming ILB who closed and wrapped up impressively. gain of 3

4. PP - 3 step drop quick throw to Fasano on a quick out... Fasano drags the tackling LB for the first down... props to him.

5. RP -running into a stacked defense.. all clogged up... 1 yd gain

End of 3rd

Some interesting stats here:

http://www.kansascity.com/2013/09/10/4471568/snap-count-observations-kelce.html

Lewis had the most snaps of all.
Catapano had more snaps than Jackson.
Robinson was on the field more often than I thought, but less than Abdullah.
Sherman only had 26 snaps but was the leading receiver (4/44/0).
The new guys are core ST contributors but also got some defensive snaps.

Was Geoff Schwartz really that bad? A lot of people said the guy had a good game especially the run game. Yah at 340 he's not going to pull or trap block very well, but Ryk is describing him in the exact opposite way so its just weird.

He seemed very confused on a lot of snaps. Almost as if he wasn't sure what his assignment was. Thinking it through, it makes sense because he's been at RT all camp and he was at RG this week, so it's understandable to an extent. Any time he took a wrong step, he doesn't have much agility or quickness to rely on to recover and still execute his assignment. If he was at guard all camp, I'm sure he would've looked better in the run game. In the passing game, his assignments are much simpler because the only thing he has to account for are stunts, blitzes or pre-snap protection assignments made by Alex. That means he either just had to react instinctively or just simply follow instructions from Alex.

...but yes. He sucked in the run game. He was adequate on some plays, pathetic on others, but I never saw him create a lane by himself. Every run to the right side got stuffed and it was primarily due to him either being in a stalemate with his assignment or failing his assignment.

In short, getting Asamoah back will make a world of difference.

I'm thinking most of the anomolies and unexpected snap counts are mainly due to this game being a blowout. I love that everyone on this roster is being utilized. I'm really interested to see what the snap counts look like this week against the Cowboys with real competition.
