If this video doesn't get you pumped up for the first game of the season, NOTHING WILL!

Key Notes:

Arrow This week 1 matchup will feature the two teams with the worst W/L records in 2012, both of which selected an offensive tackle with their top pick and will start said players at right tackle. This is the first time in NFL history that the first two offensive lineman taken in the draft will start at RT for their respective teams.
Arrow Alex Smith, Sean Smith, Akeem Jordan, Mike DeVito, Anthony Sherman, Anthony Fasano and Eric Fisher will all make their first regular season starts as Kansas City Chiefs.
Arrow The Broncos play the Ravens Thursday night in Denver
Arrow The Chargers play the Texans Sunday night in San Diego
Arrow The Raiders will lose to the Colts on Sunday at noon.
Arrow I like big butts and I cannot lie.

Oh my god

My Prediction
On Offense: We struggle to finish the first drive with a TD since Reid gives Alex the chance to establish a rhythm in the passing game instead of poundin' dat rock wit' teh Flash & The Knileator. We still come away with a FG, though. The rest of the game proves to be a ball control and special teams battle with the Chiefs finishing with over 150 yards rushing and 27 points on the scoreboard.
On Defense: MJD is held in check for the most part except for two runs of 15+ yards where we broke containment. Gabbert's mobility ends up being the primary reason for the Jags converting a few 3rd down conversions, leading to the score being 10-6 at half time (Chiefs in the lead). A forced turnover early in the 2nd half gives us the advantage on the scoreboard, allowing us to pin our ears back and rush the hell out of the passer and start forcing mistakes.
Final Score: 27-13, Chiefs Dubya.

...Aaaaaaaaaaaaand discuss!

This should be an easy win. Hopefully the Ravens beat the Broncos so we can start out the season atop the division.

There is no such thing as an easy win in the NFL. You turn the ball over twice and the game is gone. So - caution!

What I'll pay most attention to will the the OL and run game performance. Both were putrid during throughout the offseason. Now that there is no reason to hold back - it's show time!

Next on my list will be the WR corps. Bowe probably will see double coverage throughout the game thus the other guys will have to perform to draw some attention away from him. Whatever the Chiefs show here will be a scenesetter for the opponents defensive gameplanning over the next couple of weeks.

Jags won't have Blackmon due to suspension.

With Denver playing Baltimore at home, without Smith - also out due to suspension - this is a chance for us to start the race for the division off right.

WE NEED TO WIN THIS GAME.

We have to stop MJD.

I'm nervous about this one, we're in such an odd spot. Coming off a 2-14 season to be favored on the road in week one. We seem to be the better team but we've struggled with stopping the run recently with this roster. I think we win and I'm so pumped the season if finally upon us.

This is the key. As long as we can force them to throw the ball, I'm confident in our offense's ability to put points on the board, regardless of whose defense we're facing. Then again, MJD is also a great receiver out of the backfield, so it'll be interesting to watch. I fully expect our secondary and pass rush to shred Gabbert, though.

I CAN'T FREAKIN' WAIT FOR THIS GAME!!!!

If Gabbert plays at all. This does not sound too optimistic:

Quote:
Blaine Gabbert (thumb) did some light throwing Monday.
Gabbert did not take any snaps from center as he continues to wear a wrap on his right (throwing) thumb. We suspect he'll get more a full practice in on Wednesday. Gabbert will start over Chad Henne if he's medically cleared.

Crowd the LOS to stop MJD and double/shadow Cecil Shorts all game. On defense, pressure Joekel and Houston and let Poe off the leash.

Houston vs. Joeckel will be interesting to watch ... just as Fisher against whoever he will face. Alualu? Hayes? Which team got the better deal in the draft? Both struggled in pre-season.

Agreed. If we start off the season losing to the Jags, it'd be just like another "here we go again..." where we don't meet expectations.

Completely don't expect us to lose though.

The stache!!! Very Happy

Sadly enough, I think this game has a bigger chance of being a trap game if it's Henne. Hmm.

I say Alex passes for 240 yards, Bowe get 95, Charles 116 on the ground. Score: 24-13 Chiefs Cool

ryknowssd told me I had to bring beer.

I think this is a good game. Hopefully Khan doesn't make us wear those silly all blacks on a 90+ degree Florida afternoon.

It's hard to comment on my Jaguars, since we really don't know what the team will look like - scheme wise. If Henne starts, it can get real ugly real quick though.

You guys down for an Avi Bet? Just wearing the other team''s logo for a week or so, maybe Go Chiefs/Jaguars?
