Nice. Philly friend really likes him. Fast with good bend around the edge.

Is he more an 4-3 OLB, 3-4 OLB or a 4-3 DE, you know?

He will most likely play Leo for us.

He will.

U will

Claim everyone. Laughing

McCoy sounds like he could be a pretty nice pickup for us. Kinda interesting.

Eagles writer's opinion of Chris McCoy:

Quote:
Why was Chris McCoy cut? Like you, I felt he was a sure thing. My guess is that the Eagles were worried about his physicality. The first job for an OLB in the 3-4 is to be able to play the run. He must be able to set the edge, whether taking on an OT or TE. There was a play vs the Jags where a WR moved McCoy off the ball. That was a red flag moment for me. A 6-4, 261 OLB cannot be blocked by a WR, especially not moved off the LOS.

McCoy was terrific vs the Jets, but what did we see? You always need context in the preseason. McCoy beat the LT and LG to get pressure on pass plays. He should always beat the LG due to athleticism. The LT was Jason Smith, one of the biggest draft busts in the history of the NFL. Beating him doesnít mean much.

Iím not ripping McCoy, but we need to understand what he can really do right now. If you were to put him in vs a good starting LT, could he be a functional run defender? It doesnít seem like it. The good news is that this part of his game might be the easiest to fix. McCoy has shown pass rush ability and some cover skills. Those things require athleticism that you either have or donít. He does.

If McCoy passes through waivers, he is perfect for the practice squad. He can get stronger. The coaches can work with him on being more physical in practice. He isnít shy about contact. McCoy just needs to learn to play up to his size. Heís a big LB. He needs to play like one.

They needed more size at receiver. Pryor was pointless to have around, he doesn't do anything well. Shipley was the least of a bunch of slot guys they have. I couldn't see the reason for Blake, either.

They take a look at Harbor, Williams, Burton, and keep one or two of them while keeping an eye on wiavers.

5 CFL sacks in two seasons? Cam Wake had 40 in two season up there. He was about the same size and same age as McCoy when he did it.

Glad we got to keep him instead of Winston Guy. So, HA! Really though, I'm rooting for you guys this year except when you play us.

As [UMN] stated earlier, Burton is a solid player to have at the bottom of your depth chart. He does a great job blocking in the run game and definitely will help spring MJD downfield.

Burton also contributes on special teams as a coverage guy and he was the team's 3rd Punt Returner this preseason.

Burton is a physical specimen at 6-1 220, and 4.5 speed. However, Burton struggles mightily in terms of the mental aspects of the game. At one point during camp/preseason it looked like Burton turned the corner by making tough catches, but his inconsistent ways reared its ugly head by game 3, where he stopped his route short on a slant, resulting in a Ponder interception.

Burton also had issues last year dropping passes and having poor concentration. Burton needs work but he does have value in other areas.

As stated, Joe Webb was the preferred #5 WR in Minnesota.

The likelihood of any of these guys being a factor at all is so slim, I just can't bring myself to care.

I'd kind of like to see some more moves of the risky variety. This time of year, all you have to lose is a guy who's probably not going to be on your roster in two years anyway.

Burton scored a 12 on the Wonderlic. I don't really see the point. One of those "more trouble than he is worth" guys.
