Surprised we cut two tackles given the Whitworth situation. They must have confidence in the flexibility they now have with Hawkinson and Pollak.

Surprised we cut Schaffer given his impressive preseason and the fact we now have 3 LB's on IR (Joiner/ Lamur/ Porter). I suspect we might be looking for a SAM backer to replace Hawkins. 5 x LB's seems a little light.

Moch ?

Looking at my thoughts on each position

QB: Only 2 guys and both guys were whom I expected to make it.

RB: Same goes as above. Not surprised its these 4 guys

FB: I am shocked that they cut Conner. I figured they would want a true FB, and consider moving Charles back to TE

WR: Hawkins not being placed on the IR Recall yet is a surprise. That makes me assume he will be back sooner than expected. Also surprised that Whalem made it over Hamilton

TE: Didn't think Smith would make it as the 3rd TE, but he does also have some experience at FB so that could explain why they kept him around

OL: Not really surprised that they elected to keep Pollack over Roland. It appears that Hawkinson could move back to OT now, which means they needed a backup experienced OG

DL: No surprises at all

LB: Though Schaffer should of made it. It kind of worries me that they only have 5 LB's on this roster. I Don't think this group is set in stone yet. The bengals are likely looking to add someone else here after looking at all the other cuts.

DB: Earlier I though Mays was safe, but with the situation at LB, I think thats the only reason hes still on here. If the team elects to find a new LB soon, Mays will be the odd man out IMO

----------

Out of the 22 players that didnt make the cut the last 24 hours, heres whos practice squad elighable

RB: Dan Herron
WR: Cobi Hamilton, Roy Roundtree, Taveon Rodgers
OT: Reid Fragel
OG: John Sullen
C: T.J Johnson
DE: Dontay Moch
DT: Terence Stephens
OLB: Bruce Taylor
ILB: J.K Schaffer
CB: Shaun Prater, Onterio McCalebb, Chris Lewis Harris
S: Tony Dye
LS: Bryce Davis

Big congratulations to Jayson Dimanche; the only undrafted rookie to make this years 53.

Props to 'villain' IIRC who flagged him up as a good prospect pre-draft.

I wasn't.

The FB is a dying position in the NFL, Conner doesn't play ST's, and they will needs Charles if they are running more double TE sets. Alex Smith and Charles can play H-back, and some of our linemen can play goal-line FB too, (eg; Peko)

If they want to put Hawkins on the IR recall list, he has to be on the 53 man roster listed today.

Come Wednesday I think, they can send hawk to IRR, and fill that spot on the 53.

My guess is they'll look for a SAM backer to replace Lamur.

I'm surprised Schaffer didn't make it too. He looked real good pre-season, and I think they're hoping nobody has noticed how good he has played. If the Jags have any sense they'll be all over him.

Both Dimanche and Rey can play SAM, they'll pick up a coverage LB and put Baby Hawk on the IR-Recall list.

I'm not surprised Cobi didn't make it. He is still very raw, and I think he gets to our PS easily.

Has anyone noticed any practice squa eligible QBs that are on the waiver wire? I saw Matt Scott was out there. Possibly him?

Chandler Harnish is the first one that comes to my mind. Was suppose to be a developmental backup for Andrew Luck. I say give him a call

I would prefer Greg McElroy but my guess is some roster will sign him

Heron is the second best RB on this team. He's a great blocker, a solid reciever and a beast on ST. No way i cut him over BJGE, Peerman and Rex. He outperformed all three this preseason.

Don't let your love of former Buckeyes cloud your judgement. He has more yards that tywo of them, but more carries and it came against third and fourth stringers. He blocked a punt last year, was in on another, but that doesn't make him a beast on teams in my book. Solid, yes.
