Hey everyone, it's that time again! Every year since 2011, I've taken the liberty of simulating the Browns' entire schedule using the awesome website WhatIfSports. Here are the results of the 2013 season:

1. vs. MIA, 37-30 W
2. @ BAL, 24-17 L
3. @ MIN, 31-27 L
4. vs. CIN, 30-12 L
5. vs. BUF, 28-24 W
6. vs. DET, 23-6 L
7. @ GB, 40-21 W
8. @ KC, 30-27 W
9. vs. BAL, 30-12 L
10. BYE WEEK (Record at the bye week: 4-5)
11. @ CIN, 17-10 W
12. vs. PIT, 33-17 L
13. vs. JAC, 34-31 L
14. @ NE, 29-14 L
15. vs. CHI, 37-31 W
16. @ NYJ, 20-3 W
17. @ PIT, 30-11 L

Our final record for the year: 7-9

Ultimately, that's not bad at all. I'd be very happy with a season like that. Unfortunately, we don't beat Baltimore nor Pittsburgh in this sim, and we let a close game at home against the lowly Jaguars get away, but we get a surprising win on the road against the Green Bay Packers, and take a huge step forward in the win column. I'll take it.

I was especially interested in how our two 1st rounders from 2012 did in the new offense. I must say, I'm a little disappointed by both Weeden and Richardson's numbers. Here's the break-down:

Brandon Weeden
269/461, 3682 yds, 22 td, 23 int, 58.35% CMP, 79.1 Rating

He desperately needed to cut back on the INTs and complete more passes. Other than that, it's an ok season, nothing special, which is NOT what Weeden needs this year. If he's gonna keep the QB job, he needs to be good to great. If Weeden has a season like this, I fully expect a QB to be taken somewhere between rounds 1 and 2 of the following draft.

Trent Richardson
283 att, 1087 yds, 10 td 3.84 YPC

The rushing yardage is pretty solid and the rushing touchdowns are great, but that YPC, while an improvement from last year, needs to be higher. (Note: I did not record his receiving stats, these are only rushing stats)

What are you guys' thoughts? Would you be happy with a season like this?

The 7-9 is ok.

I think both guys put up better stats than that.

Fairly close to what I predicted, but...

Getting smoked by the Lions and then smoking the Pack the very next week is not going to happen. I think the odds are that we beat Detroit, and then get smoked by The Aaron Rogers.

I dont see anyway the Browns lose to JAC at home, in second half the season, when JAC will be playing for 1st overall draft pick and the Browns will be riding the high of their best season in 10 years.

Losing to PIT twice this year is not going to happen, and if it does I might Puke. This is the worst team the Steelers have put together in a decade, and that is coming from some Steelers fans... PIT will be at the bottom of the division this year... We beat them at home the first game, and then lose to them the second game at their place - causing the Browns to just miss the playoffs as a wildcard.

I'm going with a 9-7 season...

I have the Browns 8-8 with a win over Pitt fading at the end of the season.

On defense, I look for a very good year for the front seven as they keep us in all the games. We are thin at D backfield and good teams will exploit the matchups. Hopefully, we average giving up 17 pts a game.

On offense, I look for Weeden and Richardson to have solid years. O line is solid except G position as we really need to run with a vicious leading G. No decent backups on O line. Dion loss and Gordon suspension hurt as we need speed back and WR. Again, we are weak at WR, TE, and thin at RB so I see Browns scoring only 17-21 pts a game.

Special teams really needs to step up and hold their own with all teams. Cribbs no loss but Dawson was clutch. This area will decide some games and one of the keys to a successful season. We must be fundamentally sound and get more than we give in turnovers.

The browns always beat the reigning super bowl champs so +1 for a win in baltimore.. Ultimately I would be disappointed with a 7-9 season, and would like to see an active team within the division (AT LEAST 3-3) and a competitor to win in every other situation.

I'm thinking of running the season again and taking the average of the two records. I'm just really in a simming mood just before the opener.
