I don't see a big issue with taking a corner. Hopefully it isn't at 11 but if we trade down to 18-24 ish I have no problem taking a guy like Fuller or Dennard there at all. I think BWW could step up and play, but you can never have too many good corners. Especially because you know you will have to beat NE,Denver, etc... to make a SB.

I do like Ebron at #11. Could create so many mismatches for us and a lot of flexibility with Walker and formations we could create with both on the field.

Barr at #11 is fine with me. I don't think he will start right away. He will be a pass rush specialist his 1st year but thats fine. We have Philips, and Wimbley who can fill the void on other downs.

Bortles at #11? I can live with it. Push Jake for a year, we all know he isn't likely to stay healthy, not with the way he plays. If Jake blows us away then trade Bortles next year. Let them fight it out and camp, man the best man win. Whiz has had success with a guy like Bortles in Pitt before and Rivers last year.

The things I wouldn't be okay with at #11
RB obviously wayyyy to early.
ILB, also too early, imo.
DE. We have Pitouitua and Casey along with Martin and others who can all play 3-4 DE.
NT. Nix isn't worth the #11 pick to me.

I just cant believe the Titans would consider Blake Bortles...

Maybe its just me...but I think Locker has more potential.

I could see Manziel (if you're just going for the gamble that he booms)

or Teddy (because you finally want a polished QB)

But Blake?

Start up the "We want Jake, not Blake" shirts in Tennessee Laughing

Bortles is a playmaker at QB and from what I've seen he looks like Big Ben out there. I would love to take him in the 1st.

In response to what the odds are that the Titans go QB with their pick.

@joeyharvey They've downplayed, which makes me more suspicious

I don't think we'll draft one in the 1st but I sure wouldn't mind it.

Two things. Jason McCourty is not the Patrick Peterson type of corner who follows a team's #1 around. Last year Verner and McCourty stayed on their respective sides of the field for the most part. So yea sometimes Verner did take on team's best WR's at times.

To the second point about the FO letting Verner go. The FO came in at the end and offered ATV virtually the same deal he got in Tampa (6mill a year) and Verner decided to move on.

However, I still don't see corner as a need. People act like the only to replace a good player is to spend a 1st round pick on him. BWW was drafted last year because the team knew that Verner could get away. He was drafted because the FO thought he could be a starter. They didn't draft him in the 3rd only to come back and draft a starter early again. If they look at corner, I think its due to the value they perceive, not because they view it as some great need.

the only position of need we have a need is RB and we not taking that at 11.

Whomever we draft will be a back-up rotational player. If it's a CB then it's truly a value pick.
Thinking about it, I think whatever pick we choose at 11 will be a value pick, BPA .

I disagree. The only position we could draft that MIGHT not start asap is QB. Not saying we have a bunch of holes or anything, but you don't select someone at 11th overall for them to be a rotational player only. Guys like Barr, Donald, god forbid Ebron/Evans, etc all start immediately, IMO.

The 49ers selected Alson Smith at 7 and he didn't start a game as a rookie. He put up 14 sacks as a back up though. I doubt whoever we draft starts week 1, but they will play.

Why is everyone against taking a QB in the 1st? It is, literally, the most important position in football. We have a huge question mark at the position with Locker being injury prone, so why not take a QB if one of Bridgewater, Carr, or Bortles fall?

My main thing is that I just don't see it with Carr or Bortles. I have no problem taking a quarterback, but the only one that I believe is worth the 11th pick in the draft is Bridgewater.

I personally don't see any of them as real franchise QBs. I like Borles the most then Manziel. But I just don't think it's the best use of our 1st round pick to take a QB.

I'd love to land Teddy on the trade back. Then grab Attaochu and a running back in the 2nd round.

At least it wasn't Teddy.

I know a lot of people around here don't like Teddy but I for one and very happy that the Vikings traded up and grabbed him so the Texans didn't have a chance. A 1-2 of Clowney and Bridgewater would be to much for me to handle right now. Laughing

Vikings are trying hard to get me to switch teams haha. Hired Zimmer who I really like, trade back picked up a 3rd or 4th I wanted us to do, draft Barr I like and drafted Teddy who I love. Also blocked Houston from getting him haha
