Cornerback Marcus Sherels, who didn't play against the San Francisco 49ers last week so he could attend his father's funeral, returned the opening kickoff of the second half 109 yards for a touchdown and later intercepted a pass.

can both Sherels and Felder be kept on the roster, or is it one or the other?

I would keep Sherels and Felder and send Jefferson packing.

I agree with that, I was high on Jefferson, but he just hasn't done anything in the one year he was here and this preseason.

This is far from Sherels' first time on the fringes of the Vikings' roster, but the 25-year-old, who signed with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Minnesota, had an interesting response when he was asked about his tenuous spot.

Sherels: "I always feel like that, and I like it that way. Competition always makes us better."

I agree, I think Felder and Sherels should be on the team. As for Jefferson, I hope we add another cb to take his spot

I don't know, if Sherels has to play DB again, this team is in big trouble. And, it's not like Cook has shown the ability to be heathy consistently......

Are you really willing to take that chance?

true. but is Felder that big of an upgrade over Sherels at DB?

Probably not.....just not a fan of Sherels on PR either, I guess catching the ball is important, but the odds of him doing much afterwards are low. In the grand scheme of things, I have much bigger worries about this team.....but I loved the title of hte thread!

Personally I hope Sherels makes the team. I hope what he did last night was enough to earn him a roster spot.

All he had to convince was Leslie. Priefer has always favored Sherels from the get-go, so I think the performance last night was enough to convince the head coach.

I think it's dangerous though to cut one of the other corners (i.e. Jefferson) if you keep both Sherels and Felder. I think it would have to be one of the ST LBs that would have to be cut. But would I be surprised if they cut Jefferson? No. As others have said, he's done nothing, so Sherels and Felder may not be that much of a downgrade.

I like him on returns. I hate him in the secondary. Definitely dead last in the bunch when it comes to coverage. When he comes in, teams usually run up the score and it's always on him.

That's fair too, I suppose. 6 CBs isn't that extreme. I think we'll already have a hard enough time narrowing down the LBs to 7 though...

He has proven that he is a serious threat on ST time and time again, and that cannot be overlooked. He needs to be on the final 53.

Hey, I actually agree with Frank on something!

But, PCP, you may think that the odds of Sherels doing anything after the catch are low, but facts are facts, and he does often do something.

No one thought Mewelde was all that effective after the catch, as he wasn't the fastest player in the world either, but he made it happen.

17th in average punt returns, not as bad as I thought, but not great. Like I said, not a big issue either way, compared to LBer/QB/DT/CB.
