|
|
|
Quote: | Bills running back C.J. Spiller has left Buffalo and will be in Florida indefinitely to be with his family following the suicide of his step-grandfather, Hubert Allen, Jr.
Allen killed himself on Saturday and allegedly shot and killed two other two men and injured two more men, in a shooting that took place in Union County, Fla. |
Quote: | "I talked to him when we landed from the Washington game," coach Doug Marrone said. "I obviously excused him to be able to go back and handle obviously what is a personal situation. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims as well as C.J. and his family in this situation."
Due to the sensitivity of the situation, Marrone hasn't put a timetable on Spiller's return.
"I don't have any answer of when he's going to come back," Marrone said. "We're in communication just making sure that we're there to support him, that he's doing well and then obviously we're monitoring of when he needs to come back. We want to make sure that he handles what he needs to handle." |

Brutal both for Spiller's family and the outlook for the team to start the season. Family business always comes first tho. _________________

Feel awful for CJ. We need him on the field but his family needs him more. _________________

I'll keep him in my thoughts, sounds horrible.
I don't think this affects the Bills much though. Would be shocked if he doesn't suit up for Week 1. _________________ With much cheese,

I should bite my tongue here. But no he should not take all the time he needs. He should be back at practice by Monday or Tuesday(and Im sure he will.)
Condolences to him and his family. _________________

Curious as to why you believe this? Not that I agree or disagree, just wanted to know. _________________

No doubt he'll be back for week one. Horrible situation for he and his family though. Wish them nothing but the best. _________________

Because I don't think anyone gets two weeks off for the death of a grandparent. This is an important job where a lot of people depend on you. You should get a week to pay your respects, grieve, be with your loved ones. The world can't completely come to a stop for you though. At some point you need to deal with your grief while still meeting your responsibilities. _________________

Being a family member comes before being a football player. He knows what he has to do for the Bills but he also has to be there for his family. _________________

This is a terrible event that happened involving someone in his family. He should get all the time he needs to sort things out. _________________
