Any word on Chuck Jacobs?

No word yet, but he is the on WR on the bubble right now. We either go with five WRs and he gets cut, or we choose to go with six and he makes the team.

Jennings is easily the hardest cut so far to me, but also entirely logical. I believe that this is the first year that we can roll over cap room into the next season, and with Smith and Kaep eligible to renegotiate after this season, looks like Baalke and Paraag are trying to squeeze every penny they can from this roster. Unfortunatley, it just doesn't make any sense to pay Jennings what, 1.5 mil? Not if the coaching staff feels comfortable that an undrafted rookie free agent can do the job.

The receiver cuts haven't been a shock at all; well except that I haven't heard anything about Jacobs as of yet. I'm assuming that he's going to get cut and signed to the practice squad, but we will see.

I'm not sure I understand the signing of Owen. I know that Harbs loves him, but Miller is one of the best FB in the business, and we have sufficient LB depth, and even Dix can play a little FB in a pinch, so I'm not really sure what we are going to do with him once he's on the roster.

**edit: Mike Sando says that Jennings was scheduled to earn a little over 900K this year (i could have sworn I had heard he was making over 1 million from other places though).

Great read on Jennings' full statement on being released from the team...puts in perspective just how long he was really here.

Name dropped like crazy there. Laughing

Hope we can put him on the staff or something... he deserves a ring when we get one this year.

I'd rather cut him now and sign him to the practice squad. I liked what I saw from him, but honestly, if he's not cut now, he gets cut after week 6 when Rio and crabs have to come off PUP (unless we decide at that point to put Crabs on IR and thus end his season). I'd honestly prefer not to give another team a chance at getting more film on Jacobs if at all possible (not that he would ever really play, or even be active on most game days more than likely, but still). I liked what I saw from him

Man I really hope cutting Jennings doesn't cost us in a game this season.

Or one of these three: Dobbs, Tukuafu, or Jerod-Eddie. Seems like we are putting a focus on STs by keeping guys who can contribute there (Stupar, Ventrone, Moody, ect.)

We don't need five ILB's so Jersey is probably right.

Marecic isn't signed right now but word is he will sign. Plus Dobbs will be back week 2. So two more names will be cut in the next few weeks.

Because he wasn't one of the must keep OL and despite athleticism and good game vs SD the first 3 games showed he isn't good enough to make the final 53. Probably gonna make Practice Squad though.
