Rob Ryan is having a rage attack as we speak.

Sucks for the Saints, but if this is another ACL, the NFL should open a specialist research centre, dedicated to devising new, quicker treatments for the injury.

It has already gotten much better over the last few years. With a ligament, it's always going to take quite some time. Especially, with a knee, and especially in a sport like football. Unless some magical breakthrough comes out, I don't see how it can get a whole lot better than it already is.

I like Cameron Jordan and Junior Gallette to breakout. Still a big loss though.

Linked for size, but here's the replay they showed of the injury. Poor guy gets Matt Schaub driven into his planted leg:

I very much doubt he was going to be effective in his new role anyway.

Sucks to see a good guy such as Smith to get hurt, but he wasn't exactly going to be the most impressive OLB ever..

This is sarcasm right? The guy was a great player for the Saints for many years but I don't think he was ever even a consensus top 5 DE.

Was never a fan, but always thought he was a solid pass rusher so it hurts. Their depth in that area is now alarmingly low.

Too bad. Sucks for a talented player to be lost for the season before the season starts. Especially with such a rare injury in the NFL these days.
