Of course people thought a 3rd or 4th alone is all we would get for Alex so who knows.

I mean we also don't even know if Haralson is the only piece in play. Could be a pick packaged for a higher pick in return or a player in a position of need.

My wild guess is that this is a 6th rd pick that could transform into a 5th, depending on amount of playing time for PH.

I hope Cam Johnson doesn't make the roster. He hasn't looked all that spectacular and his roster spot could easily go to a handful of guys that would have a better chance to play/develop (guys like Grey, Jacobs, Ventrone, Morris, Cooper, Jerod-Eddie, Purcell, McDermott), or even a vet like Collie/Osgood/Hawkins.

I mean, we only kept 3 OLBs last year, why keep 5 this?

Just out of curiosity, what is it that you see in Ventrone? To me he offers nothing to our team except for someone who can run down the field and cover kicks which a guy like Marcus Cooper could easily do.

Guys, Haralson is a back up OLB who is over 30 years, he is not going for a 4th round. Obviously he will have a great shot to start at NO, but I agree with Branch's sentiments of getting a 6th at best.

Haralson is 29 and makes 30 in next January. FWIW

Oh wow, I did not know that but for some reason thought he was at least 30 years old. Maybe because he is one of the longest tenured players on the team.

My guess is a 6th, but maybe a 5th if we deferred the pick for a year. The saints would play with that since they probably would like to keep their picks for this upcoming year after getting hammered in bountygate

Good move once again, I really like our depth with Lemonier and Skuta so I have no issues with this. I'm happy for Haralson in the same way I was happy for Alex. He's gonna have a chance to start and succeed in NO. Baalke is on fire with his timing of these trades i'm interested to see what we got for him. a 4th maybe?

I'm gonna dance a jig, if we got a 4th for Haralson.

Demeco Ryans was traded for an early 4th and the teams swapped 3rds (Houston getting the higher one). Ryans was 27 at the time

Giants traded a 5th for Keith Rivers. Ryans was 25 at the time

Aaron Curry traded for a 7th and 5th (conditional 4th) Curry was 25 also

Kamerion Wimbley traded to Raiders for 3rd round pick. 27 at the time

Maybe expecting a 4th is a bit greedy, but the Saints might be desperate enough that its not completely out of the realm of possibility.

Compensation for Parys Haralson is a conditional seventh-round pick in 2014, according to a league source.

Conditional 2014 7th rounder.

If Haralson makes the roster the 49ers get the pick.

11 picks in the 2014 if Haralson makes the Saints roster this year. Not even including Comp picks.
