To echo what everyone else is saying, calling the dude unintelligent is just low. Not even his former coaches and coordinators at UT has anything bad to say about, they have only said good things about him since he was there. He was never cocky, or a jerk. He could much much worse. And he went back and got his degree this year and got a job. Anyone who is hating on that is sad.

You must not have seen him play recently. He was great in college but not so great for us the past 2 years.

Vince Young has a couple of weeks in a complicated playbook and he has the mental capacity of a child and he beats out Harrell, who was going into the 4th year in the same system. This is a sign that Harrell should never touch a football again. Ever.

Capacity of Child..he just went back and got his college degree. Rolling Eyes
OK.... He still isn't an intelligent human being and he has a history to prove it. I'm glad he's in town and is an upgrade over Harrell. I just hope he can learn the playbook and take to some of Mac's coaching.

See, I disagree with this.

Had you said "He's been an immature human being" then that would be one thing. But claiming he isn't intelligent? He made some bad decisions with his money (just like a LOT of QB's in this league) and has struggled with maturity issues.

That doesn't mean he's not intelligent.

Exactly ....He has made some very minor mistakes...and he has to take the blame for them...and that is the way it should be. But how many QB's deal with what VY dealt with..It's common knowledge that Fisher hated him...His mentor Mcnair dies an early and horrible and disgraceful death. He was constantly hated in Tenn. never allowed to make a mistake without being benched..including the coach on board with that notion. Did he bring some of it on himself..yes...but not all.....He didn't handle extreme hate and pressure well..that does not make him unintelligent..it makes him human. Farve didn't handle pressure well either...he resorted to popping pills..is he dumb? Ryan Mallet resorted to be a locker room cancer and using cocaine..is he dumb? VY is a degree holder, and a good father and husband(not sure if still married) who almost never gets in trouble off the field...not only is he intelligent..he's a role model.

Perhaps he's not referring to any of that. Maybe the 6 he got on his wonderlic is why he is saying he is unintelligent. Can't say I would disagree with that assessment either.

Nothing is hard and fast, especially in intelligence testing, but a 6? I for one wouldn't be running in here defending his intelligence.

Anyway, I hope he can digest the play-book and he can be an asset for the Pack.

So the Jets signed him...
Why? Hire him as a QB coach.

Per Rotoworld.com...
Quote:
Jets agreed to terms with QB Graham Harrell, formerly of the Packers.

Just wow! Did the Jets not have pro scouts? How can a team see this guy on the street and say hey, lets give him a look see? He's been terrible almost his entire duration with GB, and that's with one of the most stable franchise in the NFL. Can't see the reasoning here...

If he cant succeed in Green Bay, why would he succeed in a Jets uniform.

I'd bet that Brett Favre throws a stronger pass with his left arm than Harrell does with his right.

Or is this just Harrell's conduit to Minnesota where he can be a weaker armed, worse pocket presence, slower, uglier girlfriend having version of Christian Ponder? And being fair to Graham, his wife isn't ugly, just, you know.

Well to be fair, Brett Favre didn't succeed in a Jets uniform, he went 9-7, after starting the year 8-3. So yeah.

We probably signed him because McElroy won't play due to injury on Thursday. That's the only explanation I can think of as to why we signed him. I expect Simms will get most of the game reps though. It's not like Harrell will actually make the team at this point.

Jets just needed a QB for a game due to injuries. Nothing wrong with bringing him on and see if he does have anything.

Don't see him sticking or finding another solid job anywhere else after this.

Exactly this.

Sanchez is ruled out, I think Smith is going to be given the game off, and McElroy is still nursing an ankle IIRC. This is solely for the fourth preseason game. I don't think there's anything he can do to supplant McElroy or Simms even, who have both had great offseasons.

I don't understand Brian Hoyer not getting any looks either with Buffalo or the Jets. He is at familiar with the Pats system and brining him in for a try out makes sense.
