Quote:
Coach Dennis Allen announced the Raiders have re-opened their starting QB job to competition.
Matt Flynn is gonna lose a gift-wrapped job for the second straight camp. "I think obviously we have to look at it," said Allen. "... Obviously, I thought Terrelle (Pryor) came in and gave us a spark." While Pryor at least gives the Raiders some improvisational threat and chance to compensate for arguably the worst O-Line in football, Flynn is a popgun player with zero mobility who's absorbed seven sacks on 34 preseason dropbacks. We're not sure Pryor will claim the job before Week 1, but it wouldn't be shocking. He's DEFinitely going to play early in the year.

Terrelle Pryor completed 7-of-9 passes for 93 yards and a touchdown, and rushed four times for 37 yards and a second score, while Matt Flynn completed 3-of-6 passes for 19 yards and two interceptions in the Raiders third preseason game.

Pretty sad situation for Matt Flynn, twice in a row now he has a team introduction press conference basically naming him the starter and he doesn't last past the third game of the pre-season.

Terrelle Pryor will start at QB for the #Raiders next week due to Matt Flynn being rested with a "sore arm"

The Chronicle has learned Terrelle Pryor is starting at quarterback for #Raiders Sunday, per couple of league sources. Not a big surprise.

People are starting to understand why the Dolphins didn't go after Flynn too hard in '12....Philbin knew what he was...a career back-up.

I dont feel bad for Flynn at this point. He was a backup that always got overrated for one amazing performance that solidified unwarranted hype.

Flynn is a solid backup to have but is probably no more effective then a Matt Cassel (2012) like starting Qb.

Pryor probably deserves to start if Flynn continues to play poorly.

Flynn was never going to take the team anywhere.

At least Pryor has potential to turn into something. Give him a shot.

With the state of the offensive line especially, Pryor should start because he can avoid the rush, Flynn won't last 4 games if he starts anyway.

Not sure why they traded for Flynn to begin with. Packer fans and some others were just hyping him because he was coached by McCarthy so OMGZ HE MUST BE GOODZZZZ!!!! He's not a good player. Make Wilson or Pryor the starter.

Wilson has been terrible so far. Isn't he 4th on the depth chart?

Smart move. Flynn would easily be the most physically limited starting QB in the league. I don't think Pryor will be good but he may be able to get a few wins with his athleticism against some of the lesser teams on the schedule.

Whenever I start to feel bad for a player I just remember he's getting paid millions of dollars to play a game.

I don't feel bad for flynn at all, got out and earn your damn job. He's basically getting paid millions to be a student of the game that can't live up to expectations.

Read option with Pryor and McFadden? Triple option with Marcel Reese?

The Raiders need to start Pryor and see what he can do. Use this season to gain experience and learn.

Laughing

Poor Matt Flynn. He must be a really bad practice player or something. That, or Terrelle Pryor looks promising & the Raiders want to see if they have a potential franchise QB in him. No matter where Flynn goes he won't ever be looked at as a potential franchise QB, a journeyman or band-aid at best... really sucks for him. I'd like to see him start for a year and see if he can replicate his previous success.
