I think Francis makes the 53 as the only other true NT type on the team.

I'd be willing to bet a trade happens with one of our D-linemen before the final cuts to make room for Francis who won't make it on the practice squad given how well he has played in the preseason

It would be great to get something now for Starks before he walks next year.

I agree. Getting a 3-4 rounder for Starks would be nice. I honestly doubt he will be effective this year as he saw what happened to Keller.

What do you mean?

I think he means that seeing the injury to a team mate with a 1 year contract might be a distraction since he himself has a 1 year contract.

And I think it's ridiculous to suggest that a 9 year NFL vet is gonna be so shook over an injury a week ago that he can't play right.

its not so much he is going to be shook up. Its the fact he is a 30 year old lineman who has 1 big paid day left in his nfl carreer. While he is tagged this year if he gets hurt he is gonna lose that last big contract. It would be in the back of my mind, esp if he knows miami isnt gonna sign him long term

No one said or implied that. It's all about the contract and the business end. At least that's how I interpret the statement.

I certainly hope not. I still say we trade him. Someone out there will extend him. Right now our franchise player is a backup. Meh

Please explain to me "I honestly doubt he will be effective this year as he saw what happened to Keller" does not say or imply that, because what I'm reading is a clear cause-effect relationship in the statement. "saw what happened to Keller" = cause, "doubt he will be effective this year" = effect.

I just submitted my interpretation. To me everyone playing in a one year contract plays differently. An injury to a team mate with the same contract situation can serve as a distraction. Ultimately Ovaw8 is the one who will clarify this for you. But I doubt its about on the field fear.

I think starks mind set is to have a great year to get one last big contract as opposed to playing half speed to avoid injury and go into the market as a 31 year old lineman off a bad season.

Javorskie Lane and Julius Pruitt have been cut so far today.

That means Evan Rodriguez is probably safe. Gray probably won't be cut until next week so he can be stashed on the PS

Save 1.6 million cutting Lance. If we could somehow trade Starks and save his 9 mil we would be looking at carrying over like 26.5 mil in cap space to next year.
