If Thompson has to go on the PUP, then Iíd keep Anthony or Lee as an extra CB. And might keep one of them anyway if he can replicate the ST work of LaQuan Williams.

I donít think the Ravens can risk trying to stash Furstenburg or Mellette on the PS, someone will pick them up.

^^^ I think one of the WRs, Hall, or Tyson is off the roster before we take only 4 CB's IMO.

The reason I only went with four CBs is that Huff can play there too, and Harbs has mentioned that specifically as something that they like about him.

But I agree they're likely to take five CBs, although Moe Lee would probably make the practice squad, if they cut him.

No way to Braylon. Dude's done.

Rogers, I'm not a fan of character concern guys. Add to the fact that the Bills, a team who need as much talent as they can get, cut him, I can't imagine he made a good impression.

Not particularly high on anyone myself, more just asking to see what the general sentiments in here were. He's a guy I wanted us to draft instead of Williams/Simon/etc. but I think this really vindicates that [non-]pick in my eyes to a degree, if that makes sense.

Also, one name I was interested to see cut was Carlton Mitchell. I remember there being a pretty great deal of talk about him being a sleeper pick as a physical specimen coming out of USF.

Yeah I was kind of surprised to see his name as well.

To me, with young guys who haven't hit their 2nd contracts, I have to really take a second to pause, get over my feelings of them pre-draft and focus on what they've done since. It's very seldom a guy like that is cut and yet still has value to offer. For the most part, the best waiver wire pick ups are veterans who either had a high cap hit, or are on the tail ends of their careers that you can bring in for relatively cheap. Or, role players that fit what you're trying to do, but not expecting much else. Braylon almost fits that criteria, but I think he's past the point of being worth it, IMO. But I'm definitely keeping an eye on the cut lists to see who might still be able to provide us with something.

Braylon is tricky because I want to say he's done, but really he's still not that old and I mean coming from a team like the Jets - it's easy to say "screw this" and give up.

But at this point I don't think we could or should gamble on him.

He enjoyed his time in NYJ colors -- he wouldn't "give up" considering he literally just signed there.

Da'Rick Rogers' attitude apparently stank in Buffalo. He didn't learn when he was suspended by Tennessee, he didn't learn when he fell in the draft, he didn't even learn when he went undrafted. So why would anyone think he will now that he's been cut by the Bills?

Dumb kid doesn't deserve another chance.

As for Braylon Edwards, I really don't see where he would be worth the plane fare from New York to Baltimore. He's been cut by the last three teams he's played for.

I am personally pretty confident in Marlon Brown. I think the weakness to the receiving corp isn't so much depth as it is a lack of either an elite number 1 receiver or a quality number 2 receiver.

As I said in an earlier post, I had assumed that Pitta would in essence be replacing Boldin's production and Dickson replacing Pitta's, with a combination of Young players scooping up the surplus yardage left by Dickson, and Jacoby Jones remaining in essence a number three receiver. I still expect Dickson to replace Pitta's production but now it is imperative that a combination of Brown, Stokley, and possible a cut receiver cumulativly replace Boldin's production.

However some receivers I think could potentially be cut / traded for a bucket of footballs that might make sense for Baltimore:

Preston Parker, Jacoby Ford, Damian Williams / Kenny Britt, Jason Avant, Andre Caldwell, Austin Pettis.

I think Stokley can be relied upon to make some big 3rd down catches, and rack up 500+ yards receiving, from the slot position.

He's as good as can be at getting open and then he's got really safe hands too. So with him and Torrey, who will surely go over 1000yds this season (all he needs to do is turn some of those negligible games last season into productive ones), plus a combination of Dickson, Rice, Jones and whoever else makes the roster, I think the passing game will be okay.

If it is Marlon Brown as the #2, I think he'll have a good rookie season. Defenses will double team Torrey, and in 3 wide situations, they'll have to pay attention to Stokley too. Brown (or Mellette) should get a lot of single coverage.
