Rainey must've been a disappointment this year in camp. He didn't see nearly as much time this preseason as last and his impact wasn't nearly as great. Then you factor in a trade for a 3rd string back... and that doesn't bode well. Obviously Rainey had a similar playing style to Rice, so there was redundancy, but still you have to wonder if he'd have played better if we might not have instead traded Reed for a 7th round pick or something.

But watch Reed goes to Indy and sets the world on fire as the next Derrick Mason...

Every time Rainey steps onto the field he makes a play, so I'm not really sure what more he could've done to secure a roster spot.

Any chance this is insurance due to the potential durability concerns of BP?

Shoot, after tonight I like what I saw from Anthony Allen and Bobby Rainey.

I could see Berry and Carter not making the team.

No way Allen and Rainey both make the active.

Yeah I know, and if it comes down to it I'd take Rainey over Allen.

I'm going to make a thread where we can all predict the 53 here in a second.

No reason to play Ray Rice or BP in the final preseason game at all. Carter, Rainey, Berry and Allen should all be getting carries for a final roster spot push.

Just out of curiosity, prior to either of the trades happening, were you to have a say in it, would you rather the Ravens acquire Delone Carter or Felix Jones?

Worthy of consideration:

Jones signed a one-year, $780k contract with the Eagles in 2013.
Base Salary 2013: $740k

Carter is still on his rookie 4-year deal that makes him a FA in 2015.
Base Salary 2013: $555k
Base Salary 2014: $645k

Probably Carter. I'm not a fan of Jones and I think Carter is better suited for special teams (except for as a returner, which the Ravens don't have any need for anyways). The third RB absolutely has to be able to play special teams and I don't think Jones would have made it. Carter has a chance, and I like that he's a true power option as a runner.
