Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito, no stranger to altercations, was involved in another notable one before training camp.

After a late night at a nightclub in the Fountainbleu hotel in Miami, Incognito punched and knocked out a hotel security guard, according to league sources. incident

One person who knows Incognito says the Dolphins guard was punched first.

There is videotape of the incident but the hotel is unwilling to turn it over and the NFL has not yet seen it -- and might not due to fact that it is the hotel's property and the Fountainbleu prefers that attention not be brought to the issue.

The Dolphins have been aware of the incident because, as one source said, "they've done everything to bury it."

The NFL declined comment. The league knows it cannot police all altercations involving NFL players, though this one happened in public, with witnesses. It still is premature, but Incognito's altercation could be a violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy.

Richie Incognito reminds me a lot of Bryan Cox in the sense that if he's on your favorite team, you love the guy for being an a-hole, but if he's on the other team, you probably can't stand him.

That said, I like that we've got a tough guy on the team. This is football- it helps to have those guys that are willing to get dirty..

That's important.

The hotel is probably keeping it quiet because they / their employer is the one to blame.

Bingo. If they could play the victim, they probably would. Instead, they tuck their tail between their legs and wait for people to forget

The police report says that the bouncer had no injuries. Incognito was bruised and scraped. Police decided not to press charges after hearing both sides of the story. Check the other sources on twitter.

That would be an interesting fight. Incognito is an all-around badass, and the guy he was fighting was a 6-foot-6 345 pound college RT.

I'm still trying to figure out at what point Miami tried to "cover this up" Terrible Journalism, but I'm not surprised. Was Miami supposed to put out a full page add in the paper to let everyone know that a player of theirs had been involved in an incident? An incident where no charges were filed.
