This will be our biggest test. Week 3 is the game the starters play the most, AND it's against the best team we face all preseason. I want to see how our defense holds up against them and how well we move the ball against their defense. Should be a good one.

Things i'm watching for in this game:

1) Who RR lines up across from Andre Johnson. It's safe to assume whoever he puts up again Andre is going to be the starter... provided he doesn't massively fail.

2) LB competition. Ramon Humber just forced himself into legitimate starting consideration with his performances the past two weeks. Plus Will Smith has looked... okay as a run-stuff/pass-rush OLB.

3) Safety competition. Unfortunately, we all saw the combination of Jenkins/Harper trot on to the field to start the last game. However, Vacarro has made some plays when he's been on the field, and IMO that gives him a leg up against both Jenkins and Harper.

4) Kenny Stills vs. Nick Toon. Both have made the most of their time on the field the past two weeks. Toon had the massive 56 yard catch, but of the two, Stills is the one that caught a TD. Plus his situational awareness on that play was UNBELIEVABLE. Toe tap! Lol. Laughing

The one matchup I think is more interesting than any of yours SaintsBeast....

Charles Brown vs JJ Watt. What better way to see really how good your LT is then by putting him against the best defensive player in football?

The only thing is that Wade Phillips runs a 3-4 over (maybe under I flip those a lot especially in a 3-4). The point is an end isn't just an end. It's very similar to our defense in that there is a 3-tech and a 5-tech. Meaning the ends done typically change positions and also the typical 'strength' of Phillip regardless of the offense is the left. So Watt just like Cam is a let 5-tech end meaning he, more time than not he'll be against Strief (left of the D is right of the O). I'm not saying Brown and Watt won't match up at all, but not much.

I believe Cam Jordan lined up vs Alex Barron (Raiders LT) more than he lined up vs the RT. I could be wrong though.

I actually mentioned that in another thread, but yes i completely agree. Nothing like taking the true measure of a football player than by putting him up against the person that's the best at the opposite position (LT vs. DE).

Our toughest opponent of the year and our first nationally televised game. We've got a lot to prove.

Very happy to watch the Team for the first time this year. Friendly kickoff time for me! Laughing

Any updates on the inactives?

Biggest thing I'm watching for today:

Our whole new defense. Won't pick out a special part, just very happy to see them for the first time. They've looked good so far and it will be a nice test against a strong Texans offense.

No Galette, Tez, Hawthorne, or Vilma.

The guys who may very well be our starters week 1 aren't playing in the biggest test of the preseason.

You're right. The headline on NOLA.com was confusing, now I get it.
