Actually, PFF does have a page on how they grade, and most of their better statistics require a paid account....

It isn't that their scoring system is secretive or hidden like ESPN's QB rating thing. It is that their system is openly and blatantly subjective, and it is done by guys who don't have a professional history of watching game film. So when they grade an offensive lineman, for instance, they don't grade technique, they grade the result of whether a defender is able to get by them or not.

This... But I see what Jammer is saying.

If I tell you I'm grading unsubjectively on a play but then on an off-tackle run the tackle only moves his guy forward 1 yard and the guard moves his guy forward 3 yards while the halfback makes several guys miss how do I grade all 3 guys on that play? Moreover how do I grade the WR completely on the other side of the play fairly? Their system is just genuinely flawed.

You cannot tangibly give a single number to a certain position's play based on varying aspects. Now you could say this player helped account for x amount of yards on a designated run, etc so many times throughoutt he season but the way they do it is just ignorant.

My bigger issue with PFF is that they admit that they don't take scheme and responsibility into account. I actually discussed it with the owner. Didn't agree with it.

Basically, say a DT responsible for the A gap attacks the B gap and penetrates the back-field but the HB is able to sidestep him and run through the A gap for huge yardage...he gets rewarded even though his blown assignment is what ended up costing the team.

I get why they do it because it's difficult to tell, at the same time, there are a lot of situations where especially with DBs, you need to take the scheme into account when rating them.

Their rating system as a whole is just flawed which is why I don't use it. I do find some of their stats interesting though.

Funny commercial about Madden 25, featuring Foster and Lynch.

Sorry Jets fans... Wilkerson that high is absurd.

He is damn good, but not as good as a few of the guys he is listed ahead of.

He's probably top 2 as a FS.

Ware was injured last year...are they even aware of that?

he shouldn't have dropped all the way to a 94 because of last year...

HOMER ALERT: I see no argument for Weddle or Byrd over Thomas

There are probably alot of players who were downgraded due to injury.

Byrd? No. Weddle is outstanding though.

Have rankings ever really mattered in Madden though?

I haven't bought a new Madden in three years, but there was always only a marginal difference between a guy who was a 75 vs a 95, especially if you user them. It's probably different now, but speed was the only thing that mattered last I played.

I don't have any real issues with the defensive rankings. I think Wake and Byrd are a little high, but I can understand the argument.

It's not absurd. Even if you think guys like Smith, Ngata, and Suh should be just as high or a little higher, it's still not absurd.

Outside of route running, quickness, and hands, how does Welker have 90+ ratings? How is he a 95?
