I still say by this time next week Detroit will have to cut either Akers or that kickalicious fellow . . . Problem solved.
Why do people want to sign a guy who until this year had never played football or even kicked with a holder? Because of one lousy youtube video? Crosby has one too, and it's far more impressive IMO. At least Crosby has a decent career percentage in favorable kicking environments. I much prefer Ramirez who has a strong leg and a good college track record. Hell, I'll take Long Ding before Havard Rugland (Kickaliscious)

Am I literally the only one who liked the Ramirez signing?

I like the Ramirez signing . . . Who knows. I don't know anything about him except we worked him out some time ago, and that he was until recently unemployed.

The other thing I know is that I don't trust Crosby. I used to trust him, and now I don't.

ETA: there probably isn't a Packers fan alive who doesn't love the Ramirez signing, by the way.
He was one of my pet prospects this last draft. Was a top kicking prospect until he got hurt. MCL IIRC. Killer leg, weather EXP, and consistency. I think he only missed one kick the last season he played. Started with the Seahawks, but his leg was still recovering. TON of promise. Granted, I'm biased, see first sentence.
Also seems he was on pace to break CARPENTER's Big Sky Conference record before the leg injury.

Kid'll fit right in to the lockerroom too

I read somewhere that Jimmy Johnson would cut bait with a kicker at the first indication that he had the yips. I feel the same way, and that's why I'm pretty excited for anyone new coming into camp. I feel more optimistic with your Ramirez endorsement.

Many, MANY feel the same way. The hot hand is often the best hand when it comes to kickers. For this reason alone I'm not, and never will be a big fan of paying kickers long term.

Crosby has been 24/25 since Ramirez was signed.

Crying or Very sad This sucks. I wanted Ramirez to win. Crosby always has, still does, and will always suck. I just wish he was gone.

And Ramirez apparently looked like [inappropriate/removed] today.

So any time it is between a 35 and 55 yard field goal, lets just go for it on 4th down. Anything over 55 punt, anything under, hold your breath and cross your fingers for a field goal.

Let this be a lesson to the kickaliscious camp. Unfamiliarity with the timing of the st group will get you cut. I can't imagine a guy who's never had a holder before doing well with timing

Has almost nothing to do with it. A good holder (Masthay is one of the best in the game) is a blessing for a kicker. The holder marks where he's going to snap the ball and the kicker works off that. Ramirez hadn't kicked in a year, and hasn't had a season where he kicked more than a few balls in 3. This was one of the lamest position competitions I think I've ever witnessed. Wonder if Crosby would've won if TT brought in actual competition.

Funny, reports indicated that Ramirez's problem on his second day was the timing of the snap and the kick. Yes a good holder helps, but ultimately that's the kicker. Which was my point. How can we expect a guy who's never had to time a snap/hold, if he's never done it before this year, especially when a guy who had done it countless times culdn't after missing only a year (as compared to an entire lifetime.)

Does anyone have any tweets or anything saying it was his timing? I was saying the same thing elsewhere, just speculating but had no proof.
