Right now Tomy Sparano is trying to convince Raiders management to carry two kickers with the theory that " Doesn't it seem like so many games that go into overtime are won by a field goal and wouldn't it be wise to have two kickers in case something happens to one during the game?"

Later this evening, Tony will put a poster of Dan on the ceiling above his bed and have the sweetest dreams imaginable.

Carpenter had a quick rise and fall, but the Packers or Saints could use him, he will probably find a new job pretty quick.

This wasn't surprising to anyone that pays attention to the Phins.

I like Dan and we all know he'll land on his feet with a new team (hopefully not one in the East), but when the Sturg showed he had a leg, even Dan must have known his days were numbered!

Good Luck to ya Carp! May there be a nice team on the left coast that'll give ya a call soon! Smile

Sad almost....to be a victim of your success. He did great, was rewarded with a contract so fat that once he missed a few kicks it was deemed better business to look elsewhere.

I can only hope it works out as well for us as when we decided a certain punter was too high paid.

I wish him well.

He is an above average kicker in the NFL, so I'm sure he would be an upgrade for you. He missed a few key kicks last year, but I don't think that was the norm. Sturgis just happened to be the best kicker to come out of college since Janikowski. His leg isn't quite as strong as Janikowski's, but he is more accurate, so i would prefer him. I happen to think he will be one of the all time greats if he stays healthy.

Miami now has a top 5 kicker and a top 5 punter in the NFL in my opinion. Our return guy was top 10 last year too, so we are really looking good on special teams with one of the better special teams coaches in the NFL.

Our defense should be top 10 at a minimum. Now if we could just get a top 10 QB, we would be a very dangerous team!!

Who has the stronger leg? Sturgis or Carp?

Did you watch the last preseason game? He hit a kickoff through the uprights. And he hit the 58 yarder with room to spare. Sturgis has the stronger and the more accurate leg. And he was cheaper, so this was a no brainer.

The 58 yarder not only had room to spare but it went directly through the middle of the uprights.
