Damn dude Billy Spikes beat you by a few seconds. That dude is a beast. Probably the only guy of the Patriots fan base I do not dislike.

I knew this was going to happen. Glad they did it now, so he has time to go get a job elsewhere.

Fair play to the front office. They've done this relatively early in training camp giving Carpenter time to look for another job (if a kicker somewhere gets hurt).

This was inevitable as soon as Sturgis showed he had he could kick.

2.7 Million cap savings can either be used on an acorn this year, or pushed forward into next season

he hasnt had a horrible tc either. You wonder if we could have renegotiated a longer cheaper deal before drafting sturgis?

Carpenter was mostly good for us apart from missing a few big kicks last year. Wish him luck.

Sturgis' leg is simply ridiculous though. That 58 yarder doe, right down the middle cool as a cucumber.

I doubt anyone was surprised by this move. Of course, I would have preferred to have traded him and gotten something in return. Never the less by releasing him now he has a better opportunity to catch on with another team. I wish him luck.

I'll fondly remember the 60 yarder he made while he was with the Dolphins. Great moment, for sure.

Hopefully The Sturge can replicate or even surpass the feat someday.

Good luck Dan.

Don't be surprised if he's picked up by Monday....Carp is still a damn good kicker. I think everyone knew this was what was going to happen as soon as the phins used a 6th on a kicker...
