I just rewatched the first few drives and a couple things on Holmes I noticed, he sometimes seemed to get mixed up on who he was supposed to block once the play broke down.

What I remember from watching it live is that he had a slow step left, and because of this, he could not get across the face of the guy he was supposed to block, and that guy beat him and went by him easily.

I think people are trying to judge way too much on 40 snaps off the first preseason game of the year. We have to see way more of him before making a real opinion.

I dont think anyone is judging on if he will be good or not on just the game against Cincy. From many reports, he came into camp out of shape, and was behind Johnson. Add in the fact that he was dominated at stretches against the Bengals 1st team D, and there is tons of concern.

I was never high on him since he was drafted, but the FO saw enough in him to let Clabo go, so I still have hopes from him. The main thing Im looking for is him improving from game to game this preseason. If he can do that, then I think we could be ok on the right side of the line.

I didn't get a chance to watch any of the game but Ive been reading the forum and it seems like Desmond Trufant had a decent day. The critics out there seem to think otherwise though.

Per Pro Football Focus:
Quote:
22. Desmond Trufant, CB, Atlanta Falcons
Grade: -2.7
Snaps: 24 with the starters and second string.
Analysis: Tough debut for Trufant who got run over on the Falcons’ opening defensive play and would give up a first down on their second drive. Looked a little lost at times in what can at best be described a tentative debut.

He received the worst grade of all the first rounders this year

That's crap, he didn't play bad.

He was only on the field for a couple of plays anyways so he can't properly be judged. Worst first rounder? That's a bit harsh.

Idk why we only played him for like 3 drives.

Trufant did fine. He had 3 +.1 plays, a bunch of 0.0 plays (which is fine for a corner) and 3 -1.0 plays. I talked with the grader and he said 2 of the 3 were the Gresham catches, to which I laughed and said, of course a 265 pound guy is going to run over a 185 pound guy, you are being harsh here. The 3rd was a mix up in play action that was overthrown. However, Trufant shouldn't be penalized for allowing an incomplete pass...
