Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin was down on the ground for nearly five minutes with what looks like a knee or leg injury. He was carted off the field and in obvious pain.

Chip Kelly is standing over Maclin as training staff is working on him. Cart is there waiting.

Jason Peters came over and tapped on the leg as Maclin was carted off. Does not look good.

Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin has, in fact, torn the ACL in his right knee, source tells me. That was the fear pre-MRI. Out for the season.

That sucks in a contract year. I hope it's not too serious.

Hope it's alright. Before the clowns come crawling out of their holes to call him soft, consider the courage it takes in a contract year to come to practice and take the risk of an injury occurring, the same courage Jackson lacked.

Feel bad for Maclin. Loved watching him in college, he's got that smooth speed.

Orlovsky has too much experience here. Manziel doesn't stand a chance.

Only 3 or 4 more major injuries to starters left before the season starts.

Quote:
Jeremy Maclin had to be carted off the field on Saturday after he went down with a non-contact related injury.

While it wasn't immediately clear what caused him to go down, Maclin appeared to be injured after he took his first step to begin a route during a drill. As he laid on the ground in obvious pain, trainers and head coach Chip Kelly surrounded the wideout.

The injury appeared to be to his right leg, as he was unable to put any pressure on it when he was helped up.

This would be an enormous loss for this team. I expected Maclin to put up big numbers in his contract year. We are going to be weak at WR if he isn't healthy.

Could be an achilles tear if he was coming out of his route. Put a lot of pressure exploding off one foot.

That is my opinion and I am not a medical expert.

I'd think it is more likely ACL if he did it while starting a route. ACL's are notorious for ripping at the most random times, and Maclin is to young for an Achilles injury. Lets hope it is neither though, cause both would likely shelf him for the year.

When I read this from McLane:
Quote:
Didn't see Maclin go down (just caught him on back) but eyewitnesses say he took a few steps off line of scrim and just collapsed.

I thought of this:

Pure speculation obviously, but it seems like a similar situation.

Could also be a rupture. Either way, it sounds like we'll be playing most or all of our 16 games without the services of Maclin. I don't think Maclin is a #1, but I consider him a high end #2 and his loss will definitely be felt. If he does miss the season, than 2012 was probably the last year for Maclin as an Eagle.

Quote:
Jeremy Maclin - WR - Eagles
Jeremy Maclin was carted off the practice field with a potentially serious right leg injury Saturday.
Maclin was "writhing in pain" on the field, trainers were looking at his "lower right leg or ankle," and both coach Chip Kelly and GM Howie Roseman ran over to survey the scene. The fifth-year receiver was unable to put any weight on his leg before being shuttled off on a cart with a towel draped over his face. None of this information paints a pretty picture. Stay tuned for an update.

Looks like it could be an achillies tear or broken ankle/torn ankle ligaments.

Sucks for him, he took a chance on himself in a contract year and now might not get to play in that contract year.

Time for Momah and Benn to show what they can do.

This is nice. Are you inferring the guy isn't soft? Since when does it take actually courage to practice football? Work ethic, absolutely but courage? The guy isn't a soldier. He's a soft WR. Lets atleast call him what he is, that is unless your his agent now.
