I hope we don't move Massie, but then again I do. Winston is not really a guard, nor is he a LT. Massie is still at the stage in his development where a move to LT should be OK and he no doubt has the skillset to make the move.

If Mike Jurecki is getting told this by sources (Which is usually pretty OK) and not just spouting his opinion (Which is usually terrible) then I worry for where this team is headed on the OL. No it will not be worse than last year, but we have a chance to build a very good unit here, and shuffling Massie like a deck of cards every year is not going to help that. Nor is playing Potter at LT or Winston inside.

I disagree that he can make the move to LT. He played RT in high school. Was a RT in college on a horrible Ole Miss OL were he was there only good player. Even with all the injury at LT Whiz had Potter and Colledge taking the snaps at LT before they went with Potter at LT.

I think Massie has all the skill in the world to be one of the best RT in the NFL. I just don't see a move to LT working. If they do I think he will turn out no better then Levi did and at least Levi had college LT experience.

I think the OL will be Brown, Cooper, Sendlein, Massie, Winston

Kind of Hope Massie beats him out. Massie got the talent to be a pro bowl RT in the NFL.

I am rooting for Massie too

Cannot remember if Massie was RT or LT at Ole Miss

Anyone want to google that?

He could be a LT, move Levi to G and Winston who was a good LT in college and above avg RT in pros, Cooper and Lyle as well.

Not bad really.

Massie never taken a snap at LT in a football game. Been a RT from high school to the pros

I honestly think this spells doom for Colledge. Keim was dissapointed with his play in 2012 and he has a high salary. Cut Colledge and move Massie to RG and the combination of Massie and Winston is cheaper and better than we had last year. Plus while Colledge does have more experience playing guard, he's also transitioning to RG which he's not used to and not a good fit for.

Colledge is one of the last bad contracts remaining from the Graves era, another being Levi Brown.

So what does that mean for Earl Watford. Do they move Massie into RG for one season then back to RT next year?

I still think it's Massies's job to lose. I like the Winston sign as a depth and competition signing but Massie is the better player. Like someone posted earlier Winston signed a low, incentive based salary. If Winston beats out Massie then he must be playing some pretty good football.

We could be gearing for a left tackle first round pick for next year an be moving Levi to the right Massie to guard and Winston as the stop gap

I think Levi is more likely to be cut next offseason (save 3 mil?) than take a very solid starter's position at RT. But I think you are right that we will be looking at LT in the draft. That and pass rusher and QB.

Playing Massie anywhere other than RT just doesn't make any sense to me. And like Boise&cards fan said, what about Earl Watford? I was thinking him and Cooper could be an excellent guard duo in the future.

Addition by subtraction?

Winston is a solid player

We have very few of them on the OL atm.

Warford is still a backup until he proves otherwise.

Overall baring cuts, this OL got better, that is the important thing.

I really like this move for you guys, even if it is for a backup/depth job. You can always use more guys along the o-line, and you guys got a very solid one. With your guys's struggles along the offensive line last year you needed an add like this.
