Eric Winston is closing in on a one-year deal with the Cardinals. Could be done in the next 24 hours.

Winston said he's sicking starter money type deal that is worth $3-$4 million a year.

Some teams such as the Dolphins tried to make him lower the price during free-agency but he didn't budge so they moved on.

Winston has been a full 16-game starter since 2007 and is a solid all around player.

@kentsomers: Eric Winston's 1 yr deal will be near vet minimum. Can make more $$$if he becomes a starter.

No sure why they sign him. Not good enough to be a LT but all ready have Massie at RT.

I am very surprised by this. So this must mean that Massie is going to the bench, which I completely disagree with. There were rumblings that Massie would get moved to guard, but I still do not get this signing quite frankly.

Maybe Massie is moving to LT, Winston to RT, Potter for depth and Levi a pink slip.

Winston is a career RT though, he is not being signed for any other position.

Then the team makes the same mistake Whiz made when He moved Levi to LT from RT. There a reason Massie has played RT at every level of football.

Trust me, I wouldn't agree with the move either. I don't want to stunt his growth on the right side.

It's an interesting move and I wonder what it spells for the line at other positions but it's hard to argue that Winston isn't a premiere upgrade at RT for us. I know Massie is probably the future but Winston is a great ZBS RT.

Mike Jurecki ‏@mikejurecki
Nate Potter will be in the mix @PriscoCBS Massie was good the 2nd half of the season. He can be a beast. Wonder if he goes to the left side?

Mike Jurecki ‏@mikejurecki
Yes, 10-12 lbs, needed an anchor. RT @PriscoCBS: Has he gained weight?

Will be interesting to see what comes of it.

Massie did great the last 8 games of his rookie year. Winston is a good RT but has also so been cut back to back years. Jurecki still believe Potter in the mix for starting LT. Browns coming of the injury.

Mike Jurecki ‏@mikejurecki
LT Brown, Potter & Massie/ Cooper/Sendlein/ Colledge/ Winston (if or when it becomes official) RT @PriscoCBS: So how do you see the line?
Expand

Kind of think you ruin Massie if you move him or but him back on the bench.

Maybe could Winston move inside and play guard?

Massie keeps getting refereed to as a breakout player, even by Kiem. Not sure what to make of it other than it is only a 1 yr deal and maybe he is just insurance to back up RT and maybe the guard spots.

Interesting move though, Graves would never do this.

Kent Somers ‏@kentsomers
#AZCardinals weren't impressed with Eric Winston this spring. Price decreased and/or they aren't as high on their OTs as they were

Found this to be interesting also

Mike Florio adds that the deal (Winston to Cards) could be completed within “the next 24 hours.” The Cardinals’ tackles were shoddy at best last season, and there have been recent reports that LT Levi Brown’s play in the spring left a lot to be desired. The Cardinals prefer incumbent RT Bobby Massie inside at guard. Winston would start at right tackle, with Nate Potter pushing Brown for the left tackle job.

Winston to LT

Massie to stay at RT

Anyone remember what the cap ramifications are for Levi getting cut this year?

Hate to see Massie at RG, but then again I am not the coach....yet

Colledge might be the odd man out

On bolded part he signed for vet min as Billy said but it could be a line up change.

No QB comp but it looks like we have comp everywhere else, wish I was going to Flag to watch this.

SiriusXM NFL Radio ‏@SiriusXMNFL
@EricWinston: I embrace competition & haven't been promised anything in Arizona. I feel like I will be the guy at RT. #SXMSports #Cardinals

Kind of Hope Massie beats him out. Massie got the talent to be a pro bowl RT in the NFL.
