Agreed. with some improvement this could be Chandler Jones' spot some time soon.

Put me down for Nate Solder.

I agree it's between Mayo and Solder, and it's a tough call but I'm going with Solder.

Give me Chandler Jones.

I'm forecasting a bit here. But I think it will be pretty clear that by the middle of this year, he'll be the 2nd best defensive player on the team. I think he might even surpass Vince just given the points they are at in their careers.

The fact that Dante routinely turns crap into starting quality on the o-line hurts Solders value for me.

Surprise vote probably - Devin McCourty. I think it was more his move to safety rather than Talib playing well that led to defense improving late last season.

I think McCourty has the potential to be a better S than Mayo does LB. Put him on IR and the DB group starts to look terrifyingly bad. Where as Nink, Spikes, Fletcher, Hightower would handle the loss of Mayo okay.

Jones will have to be a top 3 DE in football to surpass Wilfork. A Seymour-esque type talent (albeit with a slightly different skillset). I don't see him getting there TBH.

It would have to be quite a year, but just for this purpose, when comparing him versus Mayo and who will be #4 on this list. I like Jones.

I agree that Dante greatly reduces the importance of any individual OLineman.

I also agree that McCourty will probably be a better safety than Mayo is a LB, but my vote for importance to the team goes to Mayo. I think none of the other LBs have his level of flexibility and knowledge.
