There is a lot of optomism going into this season. I was optomistic last year, but the team never got its collective can off the bench. Do we have reason to be more confident this time around?

Training camp stories:

Branden Albert - Will he play, where will he play, how well will he play?

Running Back - After JC, there are no givens. Lots to find out here.

Wide Receiver - see Running Back

Defensive Line - Poe and Jackson's are given, but will Poe paly NT or DE? Who else will be getting significant snaps? What is the nickel package?

Inside LB - Obviously we do not have a returning starter. How will all the drama effect this season's group? Who will play beside DJ? Who will play Nickel? What is the short yardage package for the whole unit?

Secondary - We ahve four starters. Will anyone push Kendrick Lewis? Will there be dram between the two new veteran CB?

Generally - There were a lot of things not to like about Haley, but he could get effort out of his team. Last year we had none. Will that hang over? Reid seems to be able to find pieces and make strategic adjustments, but is an aweful game coach. How will that work? New faces and new schemes alwaays raise issues. Will this be one of those teams that hits the ground running, or one that takes time to adjust?

While there are several interesting stories, the one I'm most curious about:

Who emerges from that group. Very curious about Avery myself.

^ agree with Rumless and 82. I am most intrigued to see the WR progress of this TC. I really like Kelce, and expect the TE corps to be solid. I'm just hoping that there are one or two WRs other than Bowe that step up and shine.

( I know TC isn't perfectly indicative of how a player will perform in the regular season, but hey... positive early signs are better than negative, duh )

My guess for WR making the 53 is:

Bowe
Baldwin
Copper
Hemingway
McCluster
Wylie

I could see Avery making it over Wylie or Copper if he stays healthy. Heck I could even see those six plus Avery if they have Dex listed as a HB/WR. But with Gray and Kniles I doubt they keep four RB and six/seven WR.

There is an old coaching expression. When you have a lot of guys at a spot, you really have none.

The interesting thing about those receivers is, one could certainly end up being a diamond in the rough...but there is just as good of a chance that someone not on that list right now makes our team.

Depending on where they list Dex, I honestly think the only WR with a sure spot on the team right now is Bowe. Remember Andy has no ties to Baldwin, Hemmingway, Wylie etc...hopefully competition brings good things, and doesn't just show how little depth we have.

Jayhawk, you're spot on. Too many receivers for us to have a solid corps. Hopefully, as others have said, several will come into their milk, and we'll have some production. Wink

I really believe Junior Hemmingway will make the roster. He drew a lot of praise from Alex Smith in OTA's. He reminds me of Jason Avant from the Eagles, who Reid really seemed to like. I hope he makes the roster anyways, only Michigan Wolverine on the roster and want him to stay. Huge Michigan fan.

Really interested in seeing who wins out at #2 RB and ILB.

Will Davis outshine Gray? Or will Gray prove his worth?

Im a Bama fan so seeing Nico start on Sundays will be awesome. Cool

I agree, but I personally like the speed, athleticism, and upside if Newsome over Terrance.

I don't remember seeing much of Newsome. But I do remember Copper not dropping any balls, being a good blocker and also being pretty good on ST. I'm curious to see how he (and everyone else) does with a better QB

hoping to hear good things about baldwin this TC

i know this may be considered an excuse but with actual coaches who know something about an offense and a great WR coach that we have it would mean so much more

last year he was just overpowering guys and that was good enough for the coaches this year they will make sure he works on his route running and more of the technique stuff

if baldwin steps up this year the offense will be great

Don't they see Baldwin is a slot guy? Or at least a guy who can be effective from there? I think I recall a few interviews where guys like Reid have said that about him.
