Will Jairus Byrd sign long term?

This is a huge question, and July 15th is less than a week away.

Quote:
Should the July 15th deadline to negotiate a long-term contract come and go without an agreement, when Byrd chooses to sign the one-year tender becomes the next prevailing question.

Honestly I expected this question to be much closer to #1.

Sadly, I don't see Byrd signing long term. It's been our MO to let our top guys go, and I don't think this situation will be any different. If we were close to being contenders, I'd say he probably would sign long term, but with us looking like it will be at least a few more years before we can compete for the playoffs, or even a top 2 AFC East spot, I think he'll want to go somewhere else.

I believe in this front office to get the job done and keep him. We have to.

I think we can get him resigned.

If somehow we can't and he signs his tender, can we franchise him again next year?

Same here. I'm guessing they pushed it up since we'll know the answer before then.

I think Byrd has played his last down as a Bill. The regime that has drafted him is gone, he wants top 5 S money, that he probably deserves that Buffalo won't pay. We drafted two safties "in case". I think the writing is on the wall and gets traded before week 1.

Unless of course he doesn't want to re-sign with the Bills. Which honestly, I think is what's going on here.

If Byrd holds out, who do you guys think will start at free safety?

I see Duke taking the role next season personally.

Which sucks, we never seem to keep our talent.

Well, they did do a good job at retaining Chris Kelsay through four different coaching regimes Laughing

What value would he get on return.? Would a 1st be reasonable ?

^ I would think so. Perhaps a later round pick as well.

I think Aaron Williams takes over personally.
