Thought I would start a thread to separate discussion from our draft. It's always fun to discuss the picks and potential trades.

That said, taking a WR (even if it is Megatron) that early is BOLD! Thoughts everyone?

I'm fine with this thread staying open during the draft so picks can be discussed, but once the draft is over all discussion should be moved back to the original thread.

I took Megatron because, based on our scoring system, the only non QB to outscore him last year was Peterson. Obviously Megatron won't put up the same numbers, but even with a reduction he's going to be a top 5, non QB, fantasy scorer. I like going for the sure thing with my first pick Smile, and the only two RB's I would have taken were gone.

EDIT: Got burned by Ryan Mathews last year in the 8 slot, no more unsafe first round picks!

Calvin and another non-RB are the only two options I would have considered at that spot, IMO, so I view it as a sound pick. Granted, I tend to stray from more conventional drafting. Especially early if you're going to miss out on the one or two safer options.

Hmm, this is interesting. I think the "expert consensus" is to load RBs early this year. I'm glad to see some people who draft by their own rules. That being said, I was definitely going RB at pick #2 because I doubt there will be many great options left when it gets back to me. Happy with Doug Martin there. Young w/ keeper potential, relatively safe option, the .5 PPR gives a slight boost, no competition for carries, very well rounded. Getting heaps of praise from the Bucs coaching staff. Now hopefully he can match or better his rookie production...

As do I.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this draft plays out. It appears we have quite a few different mindsets going into the draft.

Just thought I'd put this out there, but are we going to have an over-night lee-way of sorts? Say, from 9PM-9AM (example)?

Reason I ask because someone could just begin being OTC at 9PM but because they couldn't check it on time, they'd be expected to have their pick in by 5AM. Perhaps, in something like this, just give them an hour after the draft opens again in the morning?

Thought I'd throw it out there before we get too involved and have something come up. Times are an example and we could find something else that works as well.

Sounds good to me. Also, let's PM the next guy up after our picks.

I still like Calvin Johnson this year and have no problems with him at #3. Reggie Bush is going to dip into his receptions but they didn't add any true receivers to alleviate his target total. Interested to see the rest of the draft plays out.

Had I not been #1 overall, Doug Martin was my target.

I didn't really want Martin in the top 5. Foster was #2 on my board followed by Rice.

We could really use a group big board of players drafted by order and/or position.

Mainly so we can see who was picked easier.

As for my McCoy pick, I like him well enough there, I see him as a safe enough pick, but I was a little disappointed to see the rest of the RB's taken and was hoping that one of them would drop. I also considered a QB at the point, but the depth at QB is solid this year.

I've been updating the first page of the other thread. Probably should have mentioned that. Smile
