I hate when guys that get a 2nd chance don't make the best of it.

He had problems in school and was given a chance in the league none the less.

I don't know for sure if this will make a huge impact on his career, but get your head out of your [inappropriate/removed].

Whatever happened here I think Brooks will get at the very least a warning and a suspension if he gets charged.

He won't be, Divens dropped the charges according to reports. There may still be a suspension here for Brooks, though. I'd say it's a coinflip at this point... probably no more than a couple games though.

That actually doesn't matter. Once it's in the state's hands, the victim can't just drop the case. Unless he says he falsified the initial report of course.

Not saying he'll even get charged, but at this point it's up to the state, not Divens.

If he's not charged or convicted, this sort of thing feels to me like it should be handled internally by the team and the union.

49ers_52, you're right the title is misleading. The great Grant Cohn strikes once again with a bogus article trying to get viewers.

Agree with the bolded. 49ers should handle the suspension issue. Teams need to start being more proactive with this stuff so the League does not need to be the only enforcer.

I wonder how this happened?

Long story short, Divens thought Brooks was too drunk to drive and refused to give him his keys and this led him to getting a beat down. Divens was being a great teammate and friend and he gets repaid like this? Smh...................

Not true. The report says that Divens had already driven Brooks home. Brooks asked Divens for his keys and Divens pretended to throw them in the bushes before giving them back. That is when Brooks assaulted him. Divens contacted the police and then three days later asked for the charges to be dropped.

Brooks is an idiot for two reasons: 1) He hit him with a bottle and 2) He threatened to get a gun. Other than that, friends get in fights when they are drunk. It happens to everyone. If Brooks didn't use a weapon and threaten to use even more severe violence, then I doubt Divens would have even contacted police.

Thats rather soft defensive reasoning. Who the hell gets into fist fights with their friends when they're drunk?? Is that common??

I think you need to re-evaluate your friends.

A lot of "He's on my team, so it's not that bad" even though if someone did this to you, you'd sure as heck press charges.

This is pretty bad. I expect a suspension.

Was wondering the same thing.

This isn't a Seahawk thread so none of that in here.

To be fair, who isn't gonna be pissed about their keys getting thrown in the bushes?

I know right? My first instinct is to automatically strike at the head of my supposed friend multiple times.
