Yeah I don't get the hate for Chip already (though FWIW I saw it coming if we started out bad)

We're in year 1 of a total overhaul. He inherited a 4-12 team without much talent.

Our defense sucks now, but after FA and the draft our defense very well may above average. My guess is we go defense heavy in 2014 (aside from getting a QB).

This year Chip probably just didn't like any QBs in this draft as a franchise QB. So we resigned Vick, play out the year and basically use it as a season to see who we're gonna build with, and who isn't gonna be part of our plan.

That's what this season is for. We get a top pick, and find out which players we're going to build around, and go from there.

I don't know why people thought we had any sort of shot this year. Our defense is just too bad. But every time anyone tried saying we'd suck they'd get called a pessimist blah blah.

I'm gonna be patient with this team. Give Chip more than 4 games until I say anything bad about him like "he has no plan for this team".

It just occurred to me what phire did with ninja's avy Laughing. Very clever.

and yeah people will get pissed at Chip regardless
-Eagles suck, go 4-12... Chip is a horrible coach!
-Eagles are decent, go 7-9... Chip is stupid, we want teh high pick!

Same logic as "why don't we sign a WR? a S? a CB?".
We're not trying to win this year.

If we wanted to win we'd be running a 4-3. It suits our personnel. We'd be a better 4-3 team this year than last year probably.

But we aren't trying to win, we're trying to rebuild. I am GUARANTEEING that we will have mass cuts and trades this offseason.

You don't bring back a 34 year old QB to rebuild.

No you bring him back to challenge your young guys

Chip didn't take over a good team, look at all the junk on the roster.
I don't know why people expected a 1-year turnaround, those really only happen under rare conditions.
ACTUALLY, since he hasn't turned us into a Super Bowl contender after 4 games means he'll never get it. We should have hired Gus Bradley or Mike McCoy or Bruce Arians.

ACTUALLY, you may be right.

For all of the hate Maclin gets, I think this season shows why he can be a valuable part of this offense. While DeSean is getting coverage rolled his way, we really have a bunch of other guys who fail at getting open. Maclin however, has caught at least 56 passes in each of his first four seasons, at an average of 60% completion by targets total.

I'm not saying that I endorse resigning him after this season, but he does have some NFL value.

Yeh, Maclin was a big blow.

Despite being made out of tissue paper and candy canes he was still our most consistent receiver and a receiver who could slip away from man coverage.

I like Maclin. I hope he stick around, and we can still go get a #1.
The days of having 2 capable receivers is long gone.

I don't know if Maclin is a valuable piece of our offense, I'd say it's more the rest of WRs being extremely pathetic pieces of our offense

How is it possible that we have nothing but trash?

I wonder if a guy like Kenny Britt could ever get his act together? He seems like the mold of a Chip Kelly type of WR, minus off the field issues.

Ertz gets a ringing endorsement by Vick:

“Since the first day that kid walked in here I just felt that there was something special about him,” said Vick in a conversation with Birds 24/7. “I just like to be around him. I like playing with him. I like having him out on the field.

And now I’m saying Zach Ertz. And I think in time, he will be one of the best tight ends in this game.”

Hope he is right about Ertz. Certainly haven't seen it so far...

If Maclins on the field, the scores-win total is the same if not a little less. He sucks, and is as soft as they come.
