MOD EDIT:

IF YOU ARE GOING TO POST PICTURES IN THIS THREAD, THEY NEED TO BE RELEVANT TO THE MATTER AT HAND.

Pictures of Hernandez's girlfriend, pictures of internet memes, copious pictures of Hernandez himself standing around or sitting in a courtroom hold little to know value to any kind of discussion that we actually want to be happening here. This isn't a free for all. We're already extending the boundaries of what would ordinarily be allowed for a discussion topic on in this forum because it is relevant, topical, and there's a desire for the discussion. But there are still limits, so please keep that in mind.

I've been asked to reopen the Aaron Hernandez discussion. I'll keep this open as long as members can keep the discussion on topic and football related. How does this news affect the Patriots? How will they replace Hernandez if he is arrested?

Do not use this topic as an excuse to discuss law and order, drugs, or other non-football topics. Do not use this topic to troll the Patriots. Do not post memes or jokes.

How would Goodell meet with him? I think teams will wait until AH is out of jail to decide what they'll do for him. That's if he gets out of jail.

Goodell would presumably visit with Hernandez at the prison.

My guess is they let the legal process play out and if he were somehow acquitted or spent very little time in prison he would then have to deal with repercussions from the NFL.

Hernandez should just be worried on whether he will get out of prison at this point

Goodell won't visit Hernandez in prison, why would he waste time on a player that may not even see the light of day again and could be locked up for life? The same goes for teams that might look into signing him since he's a "free agent", makes no sense to sign a player that is looking at major prison time.

If Hernandez, gets acquitted of charges and avoids jail altogether or even serves a small sentence, then he would meet with Goodell about being back in the league.

The judge that denied bail today, will she be the judge for the trial as well?

The NFL is basically telling all teams not to even think about touching this guy until they say so.

No one is going to touch Hernandez until after his trial, and obviously only if he's acquitted. And even if he is somehow acquitted, there will be many teams who won't want anything to do with him.

This is especially true since the rumor was that a lot of teams did not want to touch him to begin with from when he was drafted.

Not sure if this is a re-post, but Schefter just tweeted this

Quote:
Boston PD has located red SUV with RI plates it was looking for as identified in July 2012 homicide. Aaron Hernandez rented it.

According to their statement, looks like it... i doubt the NFLPA will have much issues with it giving the situation with Hernandez.

Seems like he was directly involved with the 2012 double murder as well
