There's no way the Pats could carry him at a $12M cap hit without impacting other positions on the roster. |
Revis has been a lot of terrible teams. Perhaps he would accept a below market deal to play with perennial super bowl contenders. |
Haven't followed Revis's career huh? The guy wants money. That's it. |
I am not that familiar with his personality other than his horrible analysis of Moss's skills a few years ago. |
The dude was about to sit out again after sitting out and getting a new contract a year or 2 before when he was still in New York _________________

Youre taking it out of context. He was looking for his first NFL level contract from the Jets, which was well deserved. I think he may have a lot of pride, and that can go hand in hand with wanting to be paid like the best. But saying all he wants is money is a little farfetch. _________________

Quote: | Early Monday morning, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback and one-time island owner had an interesting Twitter exchange with a fan who suggested Revis would have been happier had he stayed with the playoff-contending Jets instead of agreeing to a long-term deal with the winless Bucs and their authoritarian head coach, Greg Schiano. |

Back in the good old days when @Revis24 played for a team that mattered. Wonder if 12MM per and Rex as coach has any merit vs Schaino & 16MM

Says it all.
Never mind the fact he held out once, threatened two others and signed a contract which was almost twice as much as the 2nd highest paid CB (Champ Bailey) at the time. _________________

Aaron Dobson had foot surgery today, out 2-3 months.
Expect some bargain bin veteran WR's signed to get the team through mini-camp. _________________

Really hope he can get his stuff together. He could be the 2nd best wide out Brady has ever had. Obviously a large "if", but "if" he can get his stuff together, his talent paired with Edleman, Amendola, Gronkowski, and Vereen is a match up nightmare for defenses for Brady.
Should that crew play 12+ games all together, Brady will be top 2 in MVP voting. _________________ A sunny disposition is worth more than fortune. I have no idea who this is except that she's a DC sports reporter. Seems not blatantly untrustworthy. |
Hope this isn't true. I don't expect Talib to stay healthy. |

I hope it's "brace yourself, they're ready to spend a lot of money on a lot of players," and not "brace yourself, your top free agents are about to jet for more cash." _________________ Adopt-A-Patriot 2016: Malcom Brown

According to Ian Rapoport, we've offered Edelman a 3 year contract. _________________ Adopt-a-Patriot '14: Danny Amendola Status: Allegedly Deflating Balls On The Sideline |

Apparently we are having Wesley Woodyard in for a visit.
If I recall correctly, he covered Vereen very well in the AFC Title game. Would add an interesting dynamic to our LB corps. But not sure if there is room, where would he play? |

I really think we're going to make a run at Revis. If they manage to have a reasonable cap hit in 2014, it's ridiculously doable. Hernandez' $7.5m is off the books in 2015, the cap is projected to go up another $7-8m next year. Wilfork's cap hit will be greatly reduced, cutting Mankins next year saves another $7m, and the only guy that needs to be extended in the near future is McCourty (though Jones, Dennard, and possibly Hightower are on the horizon). And looking longer term, Brady's cap hit will either go down or be completely gone at the end of his deal. We have the ability to make it happen, and with guys like Shields getting $10m a year and our in-house option in Talib likely to get a similar deal, I think it makes a lot of sense. _________________

I wholeheartedly agree that it makes about 1000% more sense to sign Revis to a big deal rather than to pay Talib. I just don't see it happening.
I'm firmly in the hope, but don't expect anything category. |
