Or has that time passed?

I liked the scouting reports on him coming out. But at a certain point the paper stops mattering when you don't even hear "coaches like what they see Arkin seems to provide the team with depth at a weak position" I don't need to hear "Arkin is a 10 year starter" but right now I have seen and heard nothing to assume he is on roster by end of next year.

I know it's hindsight but man imagine if 2011 was:

1. Tyron Smith
2. Bruce Carter
3. Demarco Murray
4. Marcus Cannon
5. Richard Sherman
6. Dwayne Harris

I'm not going to look it up, I'll wait, but did we draft Arkin over Cannon? I remember Cannon from TCU. RT? Projected OG?? Don' remember Arkin at all.

Here is a question for you:

I'd be inclined to go

Fred, Leary, Costa, Kowalski, and Bernadeau or Arkin (whoever's better)

Unless Cook or Livings signifcantly outplays two of the above.

How much would Livings have to outplay Burning Duece for him to make the roster instead? You cut livings but you keep poop burn, and for what? Is that a judgement based solely on age? Doocey was easily our worst lineman last year. I am interested what he has shown you thus far this year, that he makes the team over Livings? Seeing how he has been out with injury...

Broaddus and another scout both have Bernadeau rated higher than Livings after last year and there's rumors the front office agrees. Evidence for it includes that the team did NOT turn in Livings' restructure to the league. Of the two, Livings is older, costs less to cut this year, saves us more off next year's cap and, by some analyses, played worse.

So that's why. I do not have anything against Livings per se, nor do I have my own opinion of the difference between the two

I think the issue is that guys like Arkin are the kinds of players whom you want to see succeed.

I'm not following your meaning here. Would you mind elaborating? It's an issue that we want Arkin to succeed?

I think you mean that you see it as an issue that I think Arkin might be successful when he has shown little so far... or maybe that it's an issue that Arkin hasn't succeeded so far and that the team needs more success out of mid-rounders, particularly on the o-line. Am I right? or even close?

Elaboration shouldn't be required. The statement is self explanatory.

Cannon was picked in the 5th, Arkin the 4th, so yes, we took Arkin over Cannon.
