No he wouldn't. Our W-L ratio under Lerner should be a Federal crime in and of itself...

The NFL is a monopoly... The other billionaire owners will take of this.

Riiiiiight.... Like they are going to say otherwise.

This sucks b/c I really liked the enthusiasm of Jimmy and the new group. I don't wanna see the Browns have to go through this but I think it's happening.

Here is another quote for you to take with a grain of salt:

As of 4-18-13
Quote:
On Tuesday, Haslam downplayed the issue in a session with the media, calling it a minor issue involving a “very insignificant number” of customer rebates, involving no tax violations.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/18/feds-allege-pilot-flying-j-has-engaged-in-fraud-for-many-years/

That insignificant number has now climbed to 18...

If he doesn't survive, it's because he gets pushed out. And the way things are right now, I think it'd be more than just rumblings about it if it was really going to happen.

Likely hinges on the conclusion of the investigation, but does anybody really think that there aren't other owners into dirty money?

He should have made the move to buy sooner. Transparency is a BIG deal nowadays.

They are all billionaires... O at least close to it... It's all dirty money in my opinion.

I really don't know if Haslam survives. If his hands are dirty in these charges, I certainly don't want him as owner, but I certainly don't want Lerner either.

Not sure where else to put this...

A good buddy of mine went to a fundraiser a week or two ago in Youngstown. They had members of the 49ers there.

He met Harbaugh, Willis and Dawson.

In speaking to Dawson, he was told that the Browns did not even make an offer to him.

So there is that....

Phil told him basically what we know, and that is that anybody over 30 is pretty much toast.

You know maybe having the team close up the store for a season because if new management wouldn't all that bad. We could finally have that zero in the loss column we have all always been talking about....

that is all

So, that being the case, does it serve the rest of the owners better if Haslam does get forced out, so the League's aligned organizations can act as if they represent exemplary standards for NFL ownership, as opposed to if he gets to keep the team, owners might otherwise face investigation into their other business ventures?

Some sources say that Jimmy will escape the noose and be able to keep the Browns. Other sources say that things are looking really bad for Jimmy.

Here are a couple articles from Forbes that are the latter:

Quote:
It is looking less and less likely that Haslam will keep the Browns. If he sells, look for the price to be more than $987 million if a banker, rather than the NFL, handles the sale.

http://tinyurl.com/k845s5a

Quote:
But the Browns now appear on the verge of imploding. Haslam’s Pilot Flying J his source of wealth, is being investigated by the FBI for defrauding customers. Three of the truck stop company’s employees have entered guilty pleas. And credit ratings for Pilot Flying J have been put on negative watch for possible downgrade by both Moody’s Investors Service and Standard & Poor’s.

But lawsuits can be expensive. So is keeping a company under attack by the government afloat. Don’t be shocked if Haslam unloads his team. It might be the best thing for both the Browns and the NFL.
