Also, didn't Dallas have Barkley and Nassib as 2nd rders? Not saying they would have been an answer, but depth chart would look better.

I think Broaddus was pretty confident in us taking Barkley in the 2nd, however Philly beat us to the punch.

How so? Barkley was taken in the 4th round.

Hopefully they bring in Jamarcus Russell Wink

Seriously though, I wonder if that would even be a consideration.

Orton's performance has been less than inspiring to say the least and has me concerned should Romo go down. It is not only backup QB that we need to address, it is the long term stability of the position. Romo will not be around forever. It doesn't seem like it was that long ago that Romo was brought in to replace Bledsoe. Time flies. We need to start getting serious about drafting our next starting QB pretty soon.

My thoughts are this:

Orton played well in preseason last year. He played well, in his limited time during the the regular season. He seemed to check down a lot and take what was immediately given to him, which worked fine for his 10 or so passes. We will have another opportunity to see him this pre season.

To an extent, It's a bit of a double standard to say "Don't believe the hype coming out of OTAs!"...... "Wait till we see them in the game!" ...."Everyone's an all star in mini camps!" ......"Wait till they get the pads on!"

And then turn right around and write a player off who is apparently not having a good camp.

Wait till we see him play in the preseason. QBs are spotlighted and picked apart in practice. Orton is a vet. He has started for teams, and has played well when it mattered, for this one. Wait until he gets out of camp before condemning him. If we are judging an entire body of work for the Cowboys, he has done enough to prove he is a suitable backup. Do we need to draft a talented QB to groom? Yes. Do we need to freak out about him because of one less than stellar camp? Not in my opinion.
