#Broncos center J.D. Walton has had an additional surgery on his ankle this week. Is expected to miss season. A tough deal for him.

Walton started every game during his first two seasons in the league and 4 more in 2012 before fracturing his ankle, an injury that will now cost him the 2013 season aswell.

Are you kidding R2B? I hope Koppen signed a 12 years lease in Denver, he may need to renew that.

I would be that we sign Koppen again now. I certainly trust him more than Blake.

Should hurt our interior run game a bit. JD isnt a bruiser by any means but he gets more push at the POA than Koppen, who is atrocious at opening interior holes.

How the hell can they rule him out for the whole season? It's only June.

Absolute disaster. Honestly in the list of players we can't afford to lose it probably goes Manning, Miller, Clady, then Walton.

I actually would like to see Kuper get some reps at Center or Beadles even

This thread is overdramatic by the way. Looking at Legwold's twitter, he says the surgery will keep Walton out until mid season, late October time, however any complications could send him to IR.

Cecil Lammey expects Koppen to be brought back but also raises the possibility of Kuper playing Center.

Philip Blake seems to be out of the picture. I still expect him to be cut.

Really? He is what, our 4th best offensive lineman? We did just fine last year without him. It's a loss but not that big of a loss.

This is bad news for JD Walton but I don't see it as a big deal for us. I expect us to re-sign Dan Koppen and he will step in seamlessly just as he did last year.

It's more to do with the lack of adequate backup. If we get Koppen I'm on board with that.

Call me mad, but I actually think Manny Ramirez outplayed Kuper last year. I wouldn't be shocked to see him get a good look at Center. The only issue is how much Peyton relies on his Center to get his calls right, not to mention the amount of Shotgun snaps.

Would Kuper be able to slide over to center?

Wow, this story developed quickly. I was struck by the absence of news this week and felt there was a problem. But then the Denver Post had a happy news story just yesterday. Then today it comes out that Walton will miss the whole season.

Possible moves:
- Re-sign Koppen (still available)
- Manny Ramirez (experienced OG; acting as C during OTAs)
- Philip Blake (drafted as center but missed all last season)
- sign a free agent like Jeff Faine or Eugene Amano

Side effect of Walton's injury is that Kuper is more likely to be on the final roster to be (at least) an experienced backup. Plus Clady's agent now has more leverage in contract negotiation.

Snaps are really important. That's the issue imo. Kuper and Beadles mentioned and they never played it and its better to downgrade blocking to get a better snapper. But Koppen is a FA.
