It'll be interesting to see the numbers. He's a monster but the injuries could continue to pile up. If he's healthy though, I don't see him slowing down just yet so to get him for 3 seasons as the key cog to your defense could be great. _________________

I think this is somewhere you can overpay. The 49ers are aiming as an organization to win now. To do that they need Justin Smith. _________________

That's true, plus the defense is mostly locked up now. Kaep will need that big extension at some point though, but that may not come for a bit and they may have some off the books by then. Really need that Carlos Rogers contract gone though. _________________

Kaep and Aldon Smith will hopefully sign deals next offseason. After that, priority is Iupati and Crabtree.
I thought we would let Justin walk next offseason so i'm pleasantly surprised. I just hope he has enough left in the tank to go until age 36, and that the injury doesn't affect him in the future. His injury (and Aldon's shoulder injury) were devastating for our defensive production last year... |

This guy is such a beast, hope he slows down soon, I'm tired of him abusing our line _________________

He's missed three games over 12 seasons. Not worried about injuries piling up. _________________

He's an absolute Iron Man, but going forward it will be much tougher.
I remember Willie Anderson who was a lot like Justin Smith. Not only never missing a game but not missing a practice. Then as age/injuries pile up, he started missing practices and then started missing games. It happens, even to those who are used to playing through injuries... |

... in the twilight of his career. "That's not going to happen," he said. "I've said that, I meant that -- I won't be the guy that's around for 10 snaps, 20 snaps. It's either,I'm going or I'm not going. If I get my [inappropriate/removed] out here, I'm going." |

Justin Smith no longer represented by CAA. evidently, he negotiated his two-year extension himself. Talented guy that Justin Smith... #49ers |

It could happen, but I don't think Willie Anderson is the ideal example. Justin Smith keeps himself in much better shape than Willie did. _________________

I think they cut Carlos Rogers after this season so that should free some cap room _________________

I actually think we could cut him even during camp this year. _________________

I was starting to think that too, but the secondary was one of the worst parts of the team so i figured they would keep all the CB's for depth _________________
