Who will be the starting center?

JD Walton was the starter before his knee injury. His run-blocking was good but he didn't do as well on pass defense. Maybe he will improve like Zane Beadles did with additional coaching.

Philip Blake doesn't have game experience but he has good size.

Manny Ramirez, listed as a guard, has been playing center during OTAs. Wasn't he a team-mate of Louis Vasquez in college (a couple years ahead at Texas Tech)?

It's 100% JD Walton and I'm not sure there's another choice. Walton was actuallyplaying wellbefore the injury last year so I dunno where the idea that he wasn't came from.

Shouldn't even be a thread. It's JD Walton and no one else is within a hundred miles of him.

I brought up this topic because it's not clear that JD Walton will be ready at by training camp. His ankle injury was very serious and the rehab may take longer than thought.

What is plan-B if Walton isn't ready? Bring back Dan Koppen? Start Manny Ramirez? Get another free agent?

Probably be someone in camp that performs the best. I think they liked Saulsberry enough in practice to let Koppen go or they had a ot of confidence in other depth guys. They brought in a few guys tha have versatility to play G and C so a camp competition there is likely for backup spot. Though that's just a guess on why they let Koppen walk so willingly. I dont think Elway would wait until now for a FA he would've signed someone w/ experience to come and step in immediately if needed.

Though Ramirez I'm not sure how experienced he is snapping but they may like him enough to be interior backup.

It would be sick if Kuper could learn center.

Clady - Beadles - Kuper - Vasquez - Franklin

would be a sick OL.

To be honest though Walton is every bit as good. He gets hate because of his rookie year but I honestly believe he's a top 10 C.

That is easy...you bring back Koppen....in fact, I think they should do that anyway.

Latest info from Walton is that he isn't ready now but might be by late July.
Quote:
Walton [...] rated his injury at “eight-and-a-half or nine” with 10 being full health

Quote:
“The plan is to be ready for camp,” Walton said. “Be 100 percent for camp, and be ready to roll.”

I hope we bring back Koppen! Confused

No, Elway really doesn't seem high on him at all.

Koppen was one of the better centers in the league last season. Honestly I barely noticed any dropoff when he replaced Walton. Let's bring back Dan Koppen.
