Very hard question today.

Going with Smith, Lafell, Hixon, Edwards, Gettis, Pilares, and Adams. Choose 7 guys due my thoughts of only keeping 2 Tight Ends.

Typing from a mobile phone so I will reserve the stats for later.

Ordered on Depth Chart placement

Steve Smith--1200 yards, 6 TD's
Brandon LaFell--750 yards, 4 TD's
Domenik Hixon--400 yards, 1 TD
Armanti Edwards--300 yards, 3 TD's
David Gettis--50 yards
Ted Ginn Jr
Joe Adams

To go a little further...

Thats 2800 passing yards

Add in other receiving options:

Greg Olsen--850 yards, 5 TD's
Mike Tolbert--250 yards
Stewart/Williams/Barner--300 yards, 3 TD's

That would put Cam up to 4100 yards and 22 TD's. I think thats plenty to get us into the playoff hunt (plus the rushing stats from before).

my top 5

5. Tolbert (ive expressed my enormous man love for him more than once).

not a huge fan of smith. hes a punk i think. im not buying his size being a chip on his shoulder. hes been in the league long enough that he gets respect from every corner. he isnt professional, and dances after every first down.

no. cam does this when he scores a TD. he doesnt bounce up and spin the ball every time he makes a play. Cam is also filled with charisma. that isnt what Smith has.

You seem like a Cam bandwagon fan. Smith is extremely intense on the field. That's the only way he can play the game and it's the reason he is as good as he is.

That said Smith is my favorite. I think he is one of the best of all time and if he ever played with Brady or Manning he would be a HOF lock.
The knocks on Smith tend to come from those who aren't very forgiving. The first thing I hear a lot is that he is a "punk" (or something similar). I, for one, have enjoyed watching his evolution as a player and a person. I find it hard to be self-righteous and pretend like I've never done anything wrong. My imperfections make me appreciate seeing Smith become the person (family man) he's become.

As far as the celebrations are concerned, what Muhsin did after first down catches was more involved than what Smith or Cam do now (dribble between the legs, take a knee, signal "1st down"). I've never heard anyone say anything bad about Muhsin. Rolling Eyes You simply like who you like and don't like who you don't like. I tend to not assume the worst about a person until I've met them or have seen clear indications from afar of horrible character. Celebrating after a first down does not constitute "clear indications" for me. Smitty has done some bad things in the past, but to see his attitude now (especially toward his family and the sincere charitable work he does) prevents me from labeling him a "punk."

Just my $.02.... Smile

Ibjustbdont think he is going to offer anything more than a punt returner which I believe a young player will step up and grab, either Adams, Edwards, or Barner . Maybe munnerlyn.

QUESTION #6

How do you expect Week1 vs Seattle to go?

As of today I would say I expect it to end badly. Not as bad as last year but still bad.

The preseason might change that. We don't know how dominant Star is and if the O-line is improved or things like that. Add in Seattle is a favorite for the SB the game doesn't look good.

I fear that Russell Wilson is going to come out firing and start the season strong.

I think its very possible that we can beat them, but I'm thinking it will have to be a bit of a shootout if we do...and I feel that isn't in our favor. It does help that we practice with Cam Newton and his mobility...but they practice with Russell Wilson. Containment is going to be a problem for both teams.

Sometimes I go through old threads for fun. Saw a thread asking which player from the 07 could be a late round steal. Names like Tim Shaw were discussed. I saw a few CJ posts too.

I think it's about time I updated my sig, if my favorite sig maker wants to help with that. Very Happy

Sure, send me a private message. I don't want to hijack P11's thread.

I'm going to think that we keep it close, but come out on the losing side of things. Seattle has done a lot of good things this offseason to make sure they stay atop the best of the NFC, while the Panthers are still a team on the rise.

Panthers could pull it out, but I think we will be on the short end of the stick for this one.

I expect us to have a legit shot at winning. We were one pass away from beating them last year. We are getting some of our best players back in Kalil, Beason, plus the addition Star will help a lot.
