Armanti Edwards by by David Gettis, and maybe Joe Adams

Every reporter I've seen do a report has said looks like Edwards has turned the corner and gotten it and making great plays.

Robert Lester has been getting some looks with the first team so they must like him a lot.

Quote:
Jonathan Jones ‏@jjones9 48m Plucked it over White RT @josephperson: Armanti goes up to pull in an Anderson pass over the middle.

Joe Person ‏@josephperson 8m Armanti pulls down a catch in the end zone on a nice fade throw from Cam.

I pray that he does not. He is taking up roster space and money. If heas truly turned the corner great, but he isnt a difference maker. Small, average speed, not a lot to like. He is a hold over of one of Hurney's mistakes, get rid of him!

Jonathan Jones ‏@jjones9 7m Rivera: Probably the guy who’s really improved the most during these OTAs and minicamp has been Armanti.

Jonathan Jones ‏@jjones9 6m When I say I envision him making team easily, I don't mean he's the next Jerry Rice. Just don't see it being as close a call like past years

Jonathan Jones ‏@jjones9 6m Coaches are raving about him and he's making more grabs than any other WR in his echelon during workouts

Based on everything he's done, I'd agree, but it really sounds like he's making great improvements and performing very well this offseason.

Edwards has made at least one "really nice play" during each of the three days at minicamp. On Thursday, he skied for a Cam Newton ball across the middle of the field and made the grab in traffic.

If the aforementioned Smith, LaFell, Ginn and Hixon are the top four receivers, that leaves two, possibly three, open receiving spots for Edwards, Kealoha Pilares, Joe Adams and David Gettis. All four of those players spent time on the active roster last season.

http://blogs.charlotte.com/panthers/

2 spots for Edwards Adams Gettis and Pilares to fight for in camp.

I think Edwards and Pilares make it.

Same old, same old.
Armanti is nothing in a real game.

I don't remember hearing this kind of buzz around him since his rookie season.

Either side of the argument, we'll have to wait until the pre season to see what he does.

Agreed. I think everyone thought he'd come in his rookie year blow the roof off the place given his play at App St. He knows if he does not put it together this year, he's out of the league. No other team is going to take a flyer on a QB to WR project that has not put it together in 4 years in the league.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if we kept 3 young guys and left one of Hixson/Ginn either.

I literally LOLed when I read this post.... Couldn't have said it better myself... You know your team sucks when you hear that Armanti Edwards is "blowing it up"...

Something tells me we're gonna have a legit chance at drafting Clowney...

This fan base is of the mindset that every draft pick has to contribute immediately or they suck. A small school QB who was thrown into punt returns, Wildcat, WR, etc. OVERLOAD. He may not amount to anything, but until our roster gets better, he should stick.

Look at other players who we drafted and did not throw into the fire right away. Charles Johnson was rather disappointing his first three seasons-Greg Hardy never did much. James Anderson rode the pine for a while. Hangartner, although not a star by any means, was brought along slowly.

I hated the pick and still do. However, the player the Patriots drafted at #33 the following season is a bust--if it makes you feel better.

Gettlemen has a SOLID philosophy-first round: get a starter. Second round: get a player who will contribute immediately. On day three, draft for the future. We all screamed when we drafted a LB and RB. However, in a year, those could be need areas--Williams will be gone and who knows about Stewie's feet. Beason could be traded and both he and Davis are suspect to injury. SMART drafting.
