There's been a lot of talk about "What's your team's Mount Rushmore?", basically the 4 most iconic players, coaches, or key figures in the team's history.

This is very challenging for the Panthers as we are still considered a young team with little to no historical lineage.

For me, I choose the following 4.

1. Steve Smith - The absolute best and most recognizable player ever for the Panthers.

2. John Kasay - The most loyal Panther player ever. He is Mr. Panther being with the team for the first 15 years of their existence. He saw the darkest days and the brightest moments, even created a few of them himself. Also, if you look at some of things Kasay did in the community, he is a tremendous person.

3. Jerry Richardson - Jerry fought hard for an NFL franchise and fought to place that team in the Carolinas. He's had a decent fan base. We owe having this franchise we love to Jerry.

4. Sam Mills - There's no denying the impact that Sam Mills left, not only on the Panthers organization, but also the city of Charlotte. The phrase of "Keep Pounding" still rings to this day.

Others I Considered: Jake Delhomme, Mushin Muhammed, Jordan Gross

Current Players Who Might Be In Consideration One Day: Cam Newton, Luke Kuechly, Charles Johnson, Ryan Kalil

I really want to find a way to get Delhomme on there, just can't justify taking any of those four off.

What about a reverse mount rushmore? The worst 4 contributors in Panthers history:

Jimmy Clausen
Everette Brown
Armanti Edwards
Rae Carruth

Dishonorable Mentions to Eric Shelton, Dwayne Jarrett, Corvey Irvin, and Terrell McClain (and plenty of other recent high draft picks Sad )

I think I would actually sub Jarrett for Edwards. It's really hard to argue DJ's DUI to TD ratio.

I'd have to find a way to put fox on there. He took us to our only superbowl, took an unheard of delhomme and made him our leader and qb forawhile, took us to the playoffs several years, and now he's turning Denver into a powerhouse. without fox I doubt delhomme would ever get a shot and I doubt we'd have made the superbowl and the best game in panthers history (the double ot game vs the rams) was under his reign as well.

Peppers' overall attitude towards the organization keeps him far, far from consideration for me.

In terms of best players to ever play for the Panthers Peppers is easily top 3-4 arguably , but from attitude to the organization and community, he no where to be found. Self righteous person is what he is.

Peppers didnt have an attitude toward the organization it was more towards the spotlight and to not have him as your top 4 is ridiculous

Originally I was going to put him on there. He's without a doubt one of the best defensive players the Panthers have ever had. However, like others have said he never really loved the Panthers like others did.

1. again i'll repeat this I believe he hated the spotlight not the organization

2. if you played majority of your career in NC you would want a change of scenery too he had his reasons for leaving we should respect them because in his time with the panthers he produced
